I really hate going to WIC appts. I feel like they think I am a bad mom and not feeding Paige. If only they could see how much she eats. I feel like they don't really believe me when I tell them what she eats in a day. I now have to go back there every month to get her weighed in order to get my checks. We already go to the pedi for weight checks every month (sometimes every 2 weeks). She is in OT & PT. I babysit 4 days a week (my day off varies each week). I have enough freaking appts and don't really have time to deal with WIC too. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take FOREVER whenever we go there. I got there around 7:30am today and didn't get home until almost 11am.
Sorry just had to vent. I don't really expect answers or advice I just needed to get that out and I figured you all would understand better than anyone.
I'm sorry your WIC office is like that. I generally ignore everything they say when I go in. Their scale and machines are always so far off from my doctors that I tune them out.
~Beth~ Wife to my Airman Chris, and mommy to: Anthony Nathaniel (8/31/04), Anastasia Fae (8/01/06), Baby C (lost on 10/12/07), David Cillian (7/31/08), Charles George (4/29/10), and Alan Christopher (2/22/12)
Ugh, i so know how you feel... It's such a pain. We have to go to WIC every month too, but now we're in their special growth clinic, which has been MUCH better than dealing with their normal counselors, so i don't mind it as much.
Just remember that they are NOT the doctors, and they are NOT the parents. You know best, and Paige's doctors' opinions are the ones that truly count. So just smile and nod, and don't let 'em get to you.
We will no longer qualify for WIC when I go back to work next month. We had to go for another weight check and pick up checks and I am even more convinced that they are full of crapola!!! lol They said that my 16lb almost 8 month old is under weight....you should see her chunky legs.
She is underweight based on age but not based on height. She is REALLY short. She was only 17 1/4 inches at birth. She is only 21 or 22 inches now.
Here I found a pic...
The boy in the picture is my friend's (and my co-host on the feb06PR) son. He is 2 weeks older than Claire (my "underweight" almost 8 month old)
Here is my skinny minnie (Paige age 2) next to my chunky monkey (Claire - 6 months at the time)
Edited because I am trying to multi-task and failed...forgot to add one of the pics. lol
Yes, WIC is very much full of crap... They expect every child to fit into their very rigid guidelines, and freak out when that's not the case. Stupid.
But you know your daughter, and you know she's doing fine... ESPECIALLY after dealing with a real FTT child. And luckily i guess this is the last time you'll have to deal with them? Good luck with your new job!
