Getting Pregnant

This was mine at 15dpo. I could not get a BFP urine test to save my life. I KNEW I was pregnant though. Thankfully DH has quite a few years of phlebotmy under his belt. So we did a HBT (home blood test). Here are the blazing results.

How on earth do you do a HBT ?? I have to research this!! If you could help out with that info would be great ! Congrats! H&H 9months to you!

I went and read your other posts ! I have the info that I wanted. That must be great to have a hubby that is able to do that ! lol Congrats again and best of luck! I hate HPt you never know if they are going to work!

My husband has been drawing blood for over 13 years and performed many PT tests. So I wouldn't recommend an amateur trying it.

Here's what we did though once the blood was drawn. We allowed the blood to sit in the syringe for several hours. The serum, which contains the HCG, will separate out from the blood. The blood will clot. The serum will also have its own separation, the liquid from the gel. We drew off the liquid, dipped in our HPT, and viola, a very quick, very positive test.

Now I'm curious how long it will take to show up in my urine.

Wow!!! This is impressive. They allow people to give injections to themselves I wonder how long in the future they will allow people to do HBT's.. Tooooo neet!

We didn't exactly ask for them to let us. My husband has been doing this type of work for quite some time. In the labratory where he regularly ran pregnancy tests they would place a vial of blood in the centrifuge. The centrifuge would spin the serum out from the blood. The HCG level would be tested from the serum.

We breed and raise Cocker Spaniels, and give them their vaccinations, so we keep a supply of needles and syringes on hand.

So my husband just drew out my blood, and instead of using a centrifuge, because we don't have one, he allowed the syringes to sit in an upright position, this allowed gravity to do the work. The blood automatically clots, and the serum rises to the top.

We just draw off the serum, place it in a cup, and dip the PT test in the serum like you would if it was urine.

I am STILL getting negative urine tests, but that blood test was positive as soon as the serum crossed the test line, it didn't wait for it to get all the way across, or to even make it to the control line.

I guess this pregnancy I fall into the same category as one of the few women who don't get positive urine test results until the second trimester.

I'm still testing my urine until I run out of my .80 tests, because I'm curious how long it will take to show up there.

Well that is really cool! I don't think I would even try without someone who knew what they are doing. Congrats on your BFP and I hope you have a happy & healthy pregnancy! When are you due?

August 22nd would be my due date. My husband's birthday is the 18th, and I'm a castor oil taker, so we may shoot for his birthday. I'm really hoping that it's a boy. That would be such a nice birthday present for him.
