I haven't said anything, but for the last few weeks, I have felt a lump on the insde of my left breast. It continues to increasingly get larger. It is sometimes tender, but not always. Most of the time, it just feels like a constant throb like someone is repeatedly poking me with a needle. To touch it, is not tender.

I called my OB's office about it and they said that the breasts can get lumpy in pregnancy, but usually not until the second trimester, and it shouldn't be just one lump, especially if it keeps getting bigger, and I should call my family doctor.

Has anyone else had a breast lump during their pregnancy and still had their baby? Was it benign and what did they do to treat it?

I don't know Brandi, but I would suggest atleast going into your family doctor and having it checked out.

I'd say go to the doc. I think if a lump moves its a good sign but if it is hard and stays in one place when you push on it then they get a little concerned.

I didn't have a lump during pregnancy, but last year I had one that was really hard and painful and rather large, it was closer to my nipple and I didn't have insurance at the time. I was still breastfeeding my DD. It went away on it's own after a month or two. I'm pretty sure it was a clogged duct or something. I would have gone to the MD if I had insurance, I was convinced that I had breast cancer.

I would make an appointment and just get it checked out. It could be nothing, but at least you will have a baseline for the size of it.

I really wouldn't worry about your pregnancy now, chances are it's not going to affect your baby, unless it is malignant and you have to treat it. But there are many other steps first.

I get lumps from time to time-always hormonal. My doc said they are "fibrocystic change" and totally normal-especially because they can be painful if I push on them. But, they move if I push on them and aren't fixed. I think they get concerned if they don't move and especially if they are not painful.

I agree that it might not be a bad idea just to get it checked out-although I am betting it will be nothing.

Good luck!!

I would think that you'd go to your OB/GYN (Aren't they the ones that do the breast exams anyways!) I would definitely call the doctor, but it totally could be b/c u are pg... (They said your bbs aren't supposed to leak until later in pg, but mine did before the positive result came at 12dpo!)

You are in my T&P

Thanks Ladies.

I guess what I'm most afraid of is that I'm young, I'm only 22 and the thought of possibly having cancer at such an age freaks me right out. Also, the fact that this is my fourth pregnancy and my last two pregnancies ended in miscarriage, I love this child already so much and even the thought of losing this child in any way, even to a lump, scares the living bejeebies out of me. Thanks for your advice. I'll call my doc this morning.
