A federal judge this week convicted a Gardiner woman who encouraged her toddler daughter to smoke marijuana.

U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull Wednesday found Jessica Durham, 23, guilty of distributing marijuana to a person under the age of 18 years.

Durham will be sentenced April 20 by Senior U.S. District Judge Jack Shanstrom. She faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Cebull's ruling comes after a one-day bench trial on Oct. 27 in which a key prosecution witness described how she photographed Durham holding a water pipe while her 18-month-old daughter put her mouth over the top. The water pipe, called a bong, allows smoke to be drawn through water into a glass tube and inhaled.

Makes no sense to me. Somehow, I have faith that God has a plan bigger and better than I can imagine though.

oh yeah i read this in the news!!! i was sooo mad! here we sit trying to get preg knowing we would move mountains to be preg and have our little ones and then these dirty worthless people have kids willy nilly!!

i am still so mad too, my friend told me a little while ago that she had an aborthion!!!! this was after my mc!!! i was so close to slapping her! she said it may have been twins too but she didnt want to look at the monitor when the doc did the scan!! she just took a whole bunch of tablets and they were gone. im still not on good terms with her AND GUESS WHAT SHES A FLIPPEN BRIDESMAID AT MY WEDDING! i could just puik!! how could she ever!! she said she wasnt ready but now all of a sudden she cant wait to have kids GGGGGRRRRRR IM GONNA SCREEEEEM!!!!

Every time I read those stories it makes me mad that people who don't deserve kids at all get to have them and people who deserve them and want them sometimes don't.

Even though my SIL is not a bad person, it makes me mad that she is having a baby and is not really ready to care for one, when I am so ready that I can't hardly stand it.

I have given it a lot of thought but I'm still not sure what I believe. I'm not convinced that God is directly involved in who gets or keeps or loses their baby but maybe just that the world is set up in such a way that horrible things happen here. On the flip side, maybe everything happens for a reason.

It's a shame that many of the people in this world are even able to reproduce and good people like us struggle so badly. I know someone through a friend of mine who tried to throw herself down the stairs to try and miscarry her baby. What a sad excuse of a human being I say, but somehow her body works better than mine! How unfair life is! However, I know that I will be so grateful when I do have a baby, that I wonder if this was God's way of preparing me better to be a mother? Who knows, but I like to think that's true.
