Do cysts usually rupture around the time you are getting a positive OPK? Is it possible to still O, or does a cyst keep you from Oing? I've never been diagnosed with cysts, but lots in my family have, and last night at work I was in excrutiating pain. A few hours later I was fine. It reminded me of how my sister would be when she had one rupture. Any information you have would be helpful. Thanks!

i have had a few burst now but not all cysts stop you ovulating. the last one burst and bled into my tube (what they say caused my loss)
normally when mine burst its like you describe (first time i actually thought i was having severe O pains because i felt it pop) , a few hours later im fine, just a bit achey.
if you get it again i would defo recommend seeing your doctor for a scan to make sure its not something that is going to cause problems

Thanks for your response. I'm really hoping it didn't cause any problems. I have a positive OPK yesterday afternoon, and then when I got back home from work last night it's negative again. A lot lighter) I didn't get to temp this morning because the phone rang and I was the only one home. It woke me out of a dead sleep, and without thinking I just ran to get it. Didn't even think about the fact that I didn't temp until I'd been up like an hour. GRR. Guess I'll have to wait and see what tomorrow's temps do.

apparently a cyst bursting CAN cause you to get a positive opk. so it is possible you didnt O but also its possible you did O and thats what caused the cyst to rupture!
like you say, you wont know until you temp tomorrow but either way i hope you catch that eggie

My personal experience with cysts are this. I have had several pearl string types of cysts inside my ovar (these kind can keep the egg from being released) and it did cause a lot of pain around O up until AF. My dr. gave me bcp's to take for a month and it seemed to help a great deal. I am also pcos..and the pearl string is very common with pcos.

Then later on I had a larger cyst on the outside of my ovary. I am not sure if it kept me from O'ing or not because my cycles were all over the place and back then I didn't even know about opk's. What I do know is that usually they burst closer to AF. But they also hurt around the time of O, because as the egg is coming out, the cyst is weighing down on the ovary. It would really depend on how big it is to keep you from o'ing though.

I hope you got some bd'ing in though, because I know that that O type cramping is a good sign!!!

If you are concerned with it too much, the dr. could give you an u/s and see if there are any cysts in there. The only treatment other than surgery is bcp's though...at least as far as I know. I hope for you it was just O pain!! Good luck!

I hope I did O. I'm to the point now that I just want this cycle to be over! I'm on day 38 of a normally 31 or 32 day cycle, and now I don't even know if I O'ed yet! My boobs are starting to get sore like they usually do post O, so hopefully!
