Well Derek was off today so we were using this time to get some stuff done around the house. He was scraping off old caulking to re-do and he fixed a toilet. I was also upstairs going thru things to give to charity. We were both upstairs for probably 4 hours with the exception of running downstairs to get something.

When we finished he ran up to the store. I came downstairs about 20 minutes later to take the charity stuff outside and then start dinner. I had just threw some hamburger into the frying pan when I started to choke and gag. I thought some dust was still in my system, then it got so bad I had to make a dash for the bathroom to vomit! I even thought maybe this is how m/s can be.

A few minutes later Derek comes home and as he is walking in he starts to talk to me and then he runs into the bathroom gagging! He said there was a smell like burnt cookies, but I didn't smell anything. However we both agreed that when we breathed in it felt like a chemical was going down our throats gagging us.

After not being able to identify the problem we finally decided to call the fire dept and ask what to do. Derek told them it wasn't an emergency, but they said they would send someone out. They sent two ladder trucks and an SUV, sirens blaring!! However they couldn't find any cause for it and it was starting to disapate (sp) by then.

We still don't know what caused it, neither of us had used and chemicals all day. Also the cats didn't seem to notice it, though I did end up taking them into the garage while we dealt with it. It seems to be all gone now, but it sure was weird and scary! Of course we also had to tell all the neighbors what had happened since they were all standing outside.

Oh my goodness, thank the Lord they didn't find anything wrong!!!

Could it have been something in the burner of your stove? Maybe the bottom of the frying pan?
