They denied my request for IUI with injectables.

They said I didn't meet the criteria for INFERTILITY. They said according to them that infertility is not being able to get pregnant for 12 months. Seeing as I have had three losses in a year and a half they consider me fertile....

WTH?????????????

Okay I may be fertile by their terms.... but show me the baby. My arms and heart and still empty.

I just want to cry and scream at the same time.

I am trying to work something out with my doctor to still have a reasonable plan for this cycle while I dispute it with them. I may just have to pay for it myself. I %$#@@%^&^*(( hate insurance companies.

Bobbie

Insurance companies stink and there is no 2 ways about it. They will avoid paying anything and everything they can...

I really hope you can get it resolved quickly!

Oh that totally sucks. They can bite me.

Like you said if you're so fertile, where is the baby? They just don't want to pay up.

I hate insurance companys, ours doesn't pay for ANYTHING that's fertility related so anything we do, we'll have to pay for out of pocket.

That just plain sucks. I swear I don't understand the purpose of insurance if everything gets denied. I want to for you. And at the same time I want to scream. You are having infertility.

Infertility - The inability of a couple to achieve a pregnancy after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse, or the inability of the woman to carry a pregnancy to live birth. Primary infertility indicates that the patient has never achieved a pregnancy, whereas secondary infertility denotes that a previous pregnancy was achieved, regardless of outcome.

found the definition here... http://www.ivf.org/glossary.html

I really, really hope you and the doc can work out a plan.

Bobbie, I am serious about this.. you need to start digging up articles and research. It took me and our doctors 3 tries to get our insurance to agree to genetic testing for the baby I miscarried- even when I carry a KNOWN genetic mutation and the same mutation has been identified in Mason who has hemophilia and my brother, who lost his life with hemophilia. They kept saying the test was only "EXPERIMENTAL".. which was a flat out lie. Finally, we had to say- this is really sad- that we would consider aborting our baby if we found out he had hemophilia. That is the only way they would agree to pay for it. Ironically enough, after fighting the insurance tooth and nail and finally winning, the day we went in for testing is when I found out the baby had died. But my point is, I found a ton of research online to support that the testing was NOT experimental. It finally worked on the 3rd try. It's worth a shot for you too!

That sucks Bobbie! I hope you can get it worked out with the dr and insurance company. They are so ignorant. I would send the definition that Danica found to the ins company.

I agree with Amber. You need to resubmit your request. There is this weird thing about insurance companies denying claims the first 2 times they are submitted. Third time is a charm. Plus, I don't know how old you are, but if you are 35 or older, the time frame is 6 mo's, not one year. Send them the definiton and ask for their data to support the reasons for denial!
