We just got our appraisal in the mail and they are raising our property taxes by 20%! That is total bullcrap! Everyone knows the market is slowing and yet our house value increased by that much? I don't think so.

So now we have to figure out how to fight this.

What a pain. But I still think having a house is way better than when we were in an apartment.

Oh yeah, we'll be protesting it. What's really messed up is that it's illegal to go up more than 10% a year BUT that cap doesn't apply to us this year since we haven't filed a homestead exemption for 1 year yet.

We just have to figure out a way to get info on how much houses have sold for in our neighborhood so we can prove the prices aren't going up like that.
