OK, here goes.. this is gross but I have been searching on the internet and can't find any answers.
I think this is my 5th? cycle since my d&c.. and every single one of them has been the same in this regard. When I bleed, the blood doesn't look "old" or dark, and I don't have clots anymore. Before my m/c every time I had a period, it started really dark, almost brown and I had lots of clots, and then as the days went by it would taper off and turn into red or new blood. Since my d&C, I am still changing my tampons as often and having the same consistency of cramps as I did before, but (I know this is TMI and sorry) the tampon is filled with light red blood and even sometimes is just clear-although it is full, kwim?
I'm just curious if this is b/c the d&C cleaned me out so much that my lining hasn't built back up to where it should be? My periods are still 7 days long and hurt just as bad, but the blood is not the same at all. It kind of freaks me out and part of me wonders if this is why I haven't been able to get pregnant?
Is this normal or can you shed any insight? Thanks ladies!

That's a good question Amber, but I really don't know the answer. It would make sense that the D&C might have affected the lining, and I just recently read somewhere (a post on here, I think) about someone having an US to check the thickness of her uterine lining.
It's definitely worth checking into. Hopefully someone on here may have some answers or check with your doctor!

I've only had one af since miscarriage, which was a natural m/c, but I had the same experience as you. I actually POAS at the beginning of af because it was so different. Doc is recommended wait 2 cycles and I am thinking about TTC now, but af has me second guessing that my lining does need more time?? I don't know.

My AFs have always been more 'fresh' blood not old, and I have never heard of clear. I would suggest asking your Dr.

I get clear mixed in with light pink blood, its usually like that the last day of AF. But my AF's are only 2-3 days long.

I'm on my first AF since my natural m/c. I've notice that the bleeding is a little different too - a little heavier than usual and no cramping. If you're not sure, you can always ask your Dr. Hopefully someone who has had a D&C will have more info for you.

I really don't have any personal experience to offer and it's too late to call my mom, but I know she had a couple d&c because she was having clots and such (no miscarriage). So I would imagine that it's normal not to have the clots for a while, because you were cleaned out.
My last AF (first one after natural m/c) was clot free and more red then I'm used to also. But I would be a little concerned about the clear ones. (unless it just absorbed urine from when you peed, I don't know your order of buisness)

I don't think it's "normal" to have brown old blood or lots of clots. But I don't think it's "normal" to have clear stuff coming out either, so I dunno.
I do usually have some clottyness to my AF and some brown/dark blood right at the begining and right at the end.
I think they could do an ultrasound to measure your lining though to make sure it is normal.

Call your Doctor and get some clarification on what's going on with you.
After my d&c, it starts brown at the begining and at the end, I have some clots but I always had them, so it's not new for me. Call you doctor and let us know how you are doing.

Amber, I noticed some changes too. I have a lot of pink to red, and red with clear mucousy looking fluid. When I asked my RE and OB they said that we need to remember that our lining isn't just blood, there are cells etc that we shed. Blood is just a part of it. I think that after d&c's and childbirth that our cycles can change. I am not too freaked out, but it will probably ease your mind if you call the OB and talk to them about it.

I guess I should clarify, it's not a lot of clear discharge, but some mucous type clearness to it like Steph said when I didn't used to have any. And I do have some dark blood, just not as much as I used to and very few clots. I am a very heavy bleeder anyway b/c I have levels equivalent to a mild hemophiliac and am a symptomatic carrier.
I am not that concerned yet- I kind of tend to agree with what Steph said. I am calling in my final prescription of clomid and if I don't get pregnant this month I am going to go back to my doctor and discuss this as well as my other options.
Thanks ladies!
