We just had a m/c a week ago and are planning on TTC as soon as possible. We were planning on taking a vacation in September, but changed our minds when we found out we were pregnant. Since the m/c we think it would do us some good to take a vacation and would love to take a cruise. We went on our first cruise last summer and loved it.

Anyway, we are hesitant on booking the crusie because if we get pregnant again we are afraid we won't want to go because we will be afraid of another m/c. What if we m/c when we're on vacation; we would be so far away from home, etc.

I know this probably sounds silly, but this is something that really concerns us. What would you do? Anyone else with the same concerns? TIA!

We had just booked a trip to New Zealand in November, then we found out we were pregnant. Then we had a m/c. We still haven't cancelled our trip. Now we are TTC so we have decided for sure that we are going to cancel. Now we're talking about a mini vacation in the fall - the location will depend on if we are successful when we TTC. But, b/c of our last m/c, I think that we'll wait to plan any trip until we are in the 2nd trimester.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide!

I know what you mean. I would love to go on vacation but I kept putting it off because I kept thinking I would get pg and then I wouldn't want to go, because like you said, what if I m/ced while I was away from home? It sucks because everyone tells you that you should enjoy yourself and go places before you have kids, well how the heck am I supposed to do that while I am TTC?

The only thing I can think of is getting some kind of trip insurance that will let you cancel for personal reasons (I think they sell it?) and then if you get pg, just cancel and get your money refunded.

We went on vacation a week after we found out we were expecting...it was just to GA to my SIL's but it was still away from home...the night we got there is when I went to the ER and they told me I lost the baby...

In the end though...I think it was better that I was away from work and stuff when it happenend...it gave DH and I chance to let it "sick in" that we weren't going to have a baby anymore...and prepared me to face all the people that we had just told...its been almost 6 weeks and I STILL have people asking me how I'm feeling and when we are going to find out what we are having...

I think it just depends on how you and DH feel about the possibility of something happening while you are away...

But on the optimistic side of things we live about 45 minutes from both Mobile AL to the east and New Orleans LA to the west and there are a TON of pregnant women going on cruises ALL the time...

Hope you are able to make a decision...

I would go for it and take a vacation, i'm going on Vacation this weekend. I mean this is going to sound mean but if you do get PG and are going to have another m/c there is nothing the drs can do to stop it. KWIM?

I would go ahead and take the vacation. If you have a miscarriage again it's going to be horrible no matter where you are. I have revolved my life around pregnancies and miscarriages for four years and it sucks. Go out and do the things you want to, enjoy life.
