my dh made a comment the other day, after i was reading to him out of the "getting pregnant" book, that got me thinkin. while i was pregnant, i spent alot of time laying on the couch using my laptop. i was really sick so i would just lay the laptop on my belling and play on the internet. he said maybe thats what caused me to miscarry......do you think that could be? that makes me feel HORRIBLE. this was a couple of weeks ago and he hasnt mentioned it since. but i cant stop thinking about it. needless to say, i dont do it anymore.

No, I highly doubt that. I wouldn't think it was anything that you specifically did. Big Hugs.

Um I think it is a huge stretch and im gonna go with no. i dont think that was the cause, and i dont believe that you did anything directly to make it happen.

Edited to say: Im sorry i dont want that to seem harsh. it came out wrong. i just dont want you to think it was your fault it absolutly was not anything you did, or could have changed at that point. Im not trying to be insensitive, i just dont want you to beat yourself up for something that was beyond your control

I agree, I doubt that was the reason. Please don't think you did something wrong, I spent the first month doing that and well lets say that I made myself and every one around miserable.

i have never heard of that being a cause for m/c! and i think some people are insensitive to imply that you did something to cause it. (no offense to your hubby, he was probably trying to help, in his own way.) after my 1st m/c, my friend said do you think it's cuz you went on matterhorn at disneyland? (it's a rollercoaster). and i just wanted to scream at her. so i just said well first of all, i didn't know i was pg when i went on it, and 2nd of all, HOW the HEL L would i know if that caused it?!

i know i do it too, but try not to think about what you might have done.

Yeah i've never heard that at all for a reason to m/c. So i'm going to say NO thats not the reason. Most of the time you have a m/c is because the something just wasn't right with the baby and it was natures way of ended the pregnancy. But i don't think by you having your laptop on your belly caused you to m/c

I think DH was sincerely trying to help (you know, in that way men have of trying to "solve" every problem instead of just letting some things be), and that's great, but I don't think the laptop theory holds true at all. I've heard things about the heat of a laptop affecting sperm counts, but our bodies aren't made the way theirs are, right? There is nothing you did that caused your m/c. Mother nature personally takes full responsibility for that.

I agree with the other ladies. Don't beat yourself up. I am sure it was not your fault. We have all tried to blame ourselves at one point or another, but the truth is, it is beyond our control. Most m/c have chromosomal(sp?) abnormalities and our bodies just kinda reject the pregnancy b/c it is not healthy. I hope that you and you dh can heal together and ttc again and have a healthy baby.

ahhh hugs sweetie....i too try to find reasons and blame for my losses and i for a while after my last lost thought it was because i slept on my stomach....this pregnancy i tryed to always sleep on my back and still miscarried

i now believe we miscarry because there is something wrong with the baby....its NOT your fault

thanks ladies...the book actually said something about it...and the tv, microwave and all that. dh just said, hey you sit there for hours with that thing on your lap! he would never be mean. (unless i was mean first) haha. i think his comment was more about being on the internet anyway. he feels neglected when i get in a research frenzy. but when he said that, it got me thinking. my tummy would get REALLY hot and i started putting a pillow in between. but most of the time the warmth felt good. i dont know, i guess i shouldnt worry about it. i just wont do it again next time. <and next time REALLY needs to hurry up! > i guess i brought it up as a MAYBE warning to you guys. i guess its better to be safe than sorry. thanks so much.

i guess if you have an old laptop and it got REALLY hot, that wouldn't be good on your belly. just like you shouldn't go in hot tubs. but newer laptops don't get too hot, and i usually have it on my thighs, not belly. but avoiding it can't hurt, so...!

i have spent since my mc thinking about what i did wrong/didnt do right and blaimg myself for the loss.
my doctor had a long chat with me about it cos he thought i was going to lose it at one point and that was one of the things he said "dont be silly" to!
i still blame myself for smokig before i got my bfp!
2 comments to make...
1) men make silly comments without even thinking about what they are saying and they are not the most sensitive of creatures!
2) there is no point in blaming yourself. all you will do its make yourself ill and stress and thats NOT good when ttc!
relax hun, these things happen for a reason and unfortunatly there is nothing we can do but pray for the best!

xxx

I really do not think that caused it. I'm sure it was nothing that you did!
