So here's the game:

Right at this very moment, look around the room you are in. As soon as some particular object catches your eye, what does it remind you of? Any object in any room can stir up random memories, no joke.
Here's mine:

I looked to my right and saw The Phantom of the Opera CDs. It reminds me of the first year Jay and I were married and we were trying hard to save money. We didn't go to movies or to dinner or anything. Then Phantom came to Salt Lake City and we decided on an impulse to buy tickets ONE DAY BEFORE the show. The only tickets they had left were the expensive ones, like $80 each. Yikes! But guess what? We did it anyway!!! So we went to see The Phantom of the Opera the next night and sat 4th row center! When that chandelier dropped I thought it would crush us!! It was AWESOME!!!!

Okay ladies, now it's your turn! Look around! What do you see??

P.S. Love you all!
Huzzah!!

awe ..ok
this gonna be a hard one. when my grandfather died, nobody would go in his house and get his stuff out.....it was pretty nasty. so i did, bc he was a collector of EVERYTHING. well, now my house is filled with my grandfathers stuff. and its ALOT of old paintings, furniture, dolls, you have nooo idea. so everywhere i look, i see my papa rb and hope he is looking down and smiling because i saved his "treasures".

Awww Mistie that is sooo sweet

And Ash yours is so romantic

Here's mine: The first memory that came up when I looked around was how grateful I am to even have a window in my office...for some reason Govt Military buildings aren't really big about windows...most of them are all the same color and and everything...every building I have worked in since I've been in the Air Force has never had a window in my office (6 years!!)...and FINALLY in Jan of this year we got to move upstairs in the hospital to the 4th floor and a WHOLE WALL is windows!! 9 of them!! On the pretty sunshine days it is so nice to be able to look out over the back bay...but on the rainy ones we tend to shut the blinds

So that is my random memory (sort of!!)

I did not post because I'm at work and frankly everywhere I look it reminds me that I'm at work. But I have a picture on my wall at work from my honeymoon, and everytime I look at it, it reminds me...well first let me tell you what we did, we hiked in the Inca trail in Peru (that was part of it)......so anyway, when I look at the picture it reminds me of one of our many achivements

I'm in my basement family room. We have a print on the wall of a gopher in the grass. My parents originally bought it for my brother but apparently his wife said "there is no way I'm putting a painting of a rodent on my wall" It worked out okay for me! I'm from the prairies and I don't mind a painting of a gopher on my wall.

Aaaw, thanks girls! It's so fun to hear your stories!
I'm teaching a lesson tomorrow about how our senses often link to memory, like how when you smell, see, hear, taste, or touch something it can trigger a specific memory.
I'm excited to see what my students come up with!

P.S. I wouldn't mind a gopher on my wall either, kimberly!

To my right I see my flag standing in the corner right under my Dad's picture. It makes me think about the days when I was living at home, and no matter where we were or what we were doing Dad always had to rush home if it started to rain or started getting dark because he had to take in the flag. Not a day went by that Dad didn't fly his flag. And the days that he was in too much pain to put it out, he would call me and ask me to do it. I swear, I can almost smell him.......coffee and cigarettes. He always smelled like Maxwell House coffee, Marlboro cigarettes and Brut cologne. He was the best Daddy a girl could ever ask for.

I see pics of dd as she's growning up. It makes me think of all the wonderful moments we've had so far. She truly is my life!
