Hi everyone,
I have had 2 m/c after my son was born . One at 5w 4d last March and this past august at 7w4d. My Gynocologist (sp??) put me on 5mg of folic acid and said to continue to take materna. My family dr told me (after both miscarraiges) that my iron was SUPER low and told me to get (over the counter) iron pills that are 300mg.
SO, to be on the safe side I am taking: The Iron pills, Materna, the 5mg of folic acid, B12 (b/c I heard it's good to take in pg) and a baby asprin everyday.
I am still very early in this pregnancy but I am just so worried it will happen again. When I was pregnant with my son I had no porblems whatsoever.
Thoughts? thank you

Honetly I'm not really sure if you can OD on vitamins to the point of it causing m/c...you may want to try the Pregnancy After Loss board...there are many women that are feeling/have felt the way you are...

Congrats on your pregnancy.

I know exactly how you feel. No problems with my first pregnancy and then 3 m/c within 6 months of each other *sigh* I was also put on 5mg of folic and I thought it was a lot but read that your body won't absorb what it doesn't need. I was also on an antibiotic (3x/day) until I hit 8 weeks to fight potential bacterial infections that could cause m/c. Those along with my daily multi, omega, calcium and baby asprin I feel like a pill factory. My husband went and bought me some folic but he only bought the 400 mcg pills so I had to take 12 of them! I went out later that week and bought the 800mcg dosage so now I take 5 + 1 of the 400 mcg and the rest is in my multivitamin. I hope everything goes okay with this pregnancy. I know it is scary but you just have to take it one day at a time.

You may want to check out the pregnancy after loss board also. HUGS

I just wanted to ask if they tested you for blood clotting disorders? Because it sounds like they have you on things that are given for those disorders. I have 2 clotting issues. I take 5mg folic, prenatal vitamin with omega, calcium supplement, baby aspirin, but now I also take shots of Lovenox (blood thinners). I think you should ask your dr. to check your blood for a panel of clotting disorders just to give you some peace of mind.

Also I don't think you can OD on vitamins. I like to spread mine out over the day. Like I take the folic every 3-5 hours just to give it time to do its job. For the most part you just pee it out if you don't need it.
