I think I'm going insane. I was just using my doppler and I found the babies heartbeat fine but then noticed that there is another little bit faster heartbeat in the backround. I checked to make sure it wasnt mine and it wasnt. I had to turn the thing off I was so scared, and turn it back on and found it again. I dont know what to think at this point. The only ultra sound I've has showed only one baby but I am going to have Mike listen to it and see if he hears it too and if so I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and tell her about it and see what she says. Seriously going insane here
It can also be the placenta or bowels. My dr. was listening to mine and said that you will start to hear fantom hb's after listening for a while because the intestines make those noises too. Usually they can find twins on u/s as early as 5 weeks.

How far along were you when you had your ultrasound? I would think that your doctor would have noticed by now, but I know stranger things have happened. They didn't know a cousin of mine was having twins until she delivered because the one baby stayed behind the other on the early ultrasound and because she was low risk and didn't want to know what the baby was they didn't even do another.
I think it was the placenta but it was a great thought while it lasted. I had my only ultra sound at 8 weeks. I am just happy there is only one in there and he/she is still going strong.
I've heard of other ladies getting "echoes" on a doppler too. The placenta makes a sort of swishy sound (like with through trees in a forest), but depending on the position you can get an echo of the baby's heartbeat.
