I know lots of us on here have had issues with not getting info from docs in a timely manner. Here's one for ya.....I finally called Quincy hospital today just to double check that the x-rays they were having read came back okay (since I didn't hear otherwise, I assumed they had). I eventually get a call back from a different ER doc saying, "oh yeah there's a hairline fracture in the bone, she needs to be kept quiet (haha)." Well, the ER doc before told me that I should be encouraging her to walk since it was a "contusion." AHHH....now I feel like a bad mother having my baby walk on a broken leg! We're headed to the pediatrician now to have him check it out and hopefully splint it at least. Poor baby!
Update: Well its been a long day but we're feeling much better about things. The pedi took a look at the x-rays and sent us immediately to the orthopedic surgeon for casting. The orthopedic surgeon saw us right away and casted the leg all the way up past her knee. I'm kinda of relieved about the cast because I don't have to worry about keeping her off it now. She took it all like a trooper and had the entire staff doting over her. Soooo....today I am thankful for hubby's excellent benefits....one of the up sides to being a cop. Thanks for your thoughts ladies, I'll get a picture of her cast on here in the morn.

Poor angel!! I hope they can do something to make her comfortable. You are not a bad mother. You did what the stupid dr told you to do.

Oh my Gosh your poor DD. How awful I hope she is not in much pain. I am praying for fast healing!
My 4 yr dd fell of monkey bars at my mom house and popped the elbow ball joint right off. It was floating and we didnt know her arm was broke. She was jumping on the tramp and fishing the morning after. Then it swelled up we took her to ER and they half casted her and said PLEASE keep her still its pretty bad..oops dont feel like a bad mom trust me! We dont have X ray eyes and act on what we know lol. We had no clue since she *acted normal* that it was broken.

I'm so sorry that your poor daughter is going through this!!! Ughh!
And ditto to Eleysia. I was in a car vs bicycle accident when I was 11. I was on the bicycle. Long story short, the ER doc told me I had a pretty badly sprained ankle. Because my parents had no insurance, they didn't take me to a followup from a real Dr. and I have had problems with it since. I once had a roommate whose mother was a podiatrist, and she was convinced from just talking to me that it was actually fractured. >_<
So it's a good thing that you're taking her in to her pediatrician!!! It'll save her a lot of problems later!

Poor kid!!! What did she do to it?
My husband was on the opposite end.... When he was younger his family was in a car accident. That day he was complaining that his collar bone hurt. They basically told him to stop whining about it (he was around 11 I think??). The next day he was playing and swung a baseball bat and the collar bone broke and his arm was just hanging by his side!
then...
He broke his arm when he was younger and had to have a cast. Some time after the cast was put on he started complaining that his wrist was really hurting. Again, they basically told him to stop whining! So... the next dr.s visit the doctor checked it and the padding had slipped away and rubbed his wrist raw! He has a HUGE deep scar from it!
Kelly, hopefully that makes you feel better about your parenting! hahaha

Awe thats so cool that she did so well. cant wait to see her with her battle injury Sorry she has a cast, but like you said, at least you wont have to worry about her being on it and hurting it worse. give her a big squeeze for me.
