I have a doctor's appointment for tomorrow to discuss fertility issues. I'm not sure what questions to ask.

Here are some facts on me:

We have been TTC for six months now with a m/c in February. I have normal cycles (30-32 days) and a normal 14 day luteal phase based on OPKs (I don't temp). And, I'm pretty sure that I am ovulatuing every month.

I plan to ask about poor egg quality due to my age (34), progesterone level, and while I don't think I have it I will ask about pcos (I did have a cyst that showed on u/s when I m/c in February).

What other questions should I jot down to ask my doctor? Any advise on this matter will be greatly appreciated. You ladies are always the best source of information on this topic. I'm so glad I found this board.

Thanks.

Just be ready for them to possibly blow you off and tell you not to worry and come back in 6 months. Not to be cynical but that's what seems to happen a lot.

You might ask if you can have a semen analysis done (or send your DH to his doctor to ask for one). That's the easiest and quickest test to do. You could ask if she'll do blood work just to check your iron levels and your thyroid.

Since it's only been six months and you did get pg once in that time, the doctor will probably advise you to wait and see. But if he/she will give you a referral, ask to see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE), not an OB.

Good luck! If you do wind up with further testing I highly recommend Dr. Richard Marr's Fertility Book. It helped me understand all the tests and procedures involved.

Thanks for the info. I hope my doctor will do some testing. We only plan to TTC for another six months and I would really like to have another baby if possible. Thanks again for the info.

A while ago someone mentioned a test for a specific bacteria. I'm sorry I don't remember what it's called - does anyone else? If you test positive, then DH will have to be tested too. It's fairly benign, but can cause reproductive issues. I would also ask about progesterone levels.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your input. I will research the bacteria name and add it to my list.

My appointment went well. Thanks to you ladies and the JM boards, I already had a good idea what he would say. He say's I don't have a fertility issue since he knows I can get pregnant. He didn't order any tests but said that my options were to start clomid and take progesterone supplements when I do get pregnant. We will wait a couple more months of TTC before deciding on clomid.

Thanks for your input on this matter, I felt really knowledgeable yesterday during my appointment. I will report on our progress. Thanks again.
