Do you think pets (dogs/cats) are able to know if you're pregnant?

This might seem like a really odd question to ask, but I think my oldest cat knew the second time. Once I found out I was pregnant, I told her not to jump on my belly. I didn't want kitties using my belly as a trampoline. During the pregnancy, my cat would just put her paw on my belly like she wanted to touch the baby. Sometimes she would just stare at my belly and other times she would just lay next to me on my right side.

After I had my miscarriage, my oldest cat started sitting on my lap again and sleeping on my stomach. It made me wonder if they could sense a baby. My oldest cat, again, is staying off my stomach. Maybe I can just use my cat as a pregnancy test?! That would save some money. lol

I think so. I know when I had my m/c when we first got home from the Dr all four cats were just sitting at the door, like they knew I was coming home with bad news. Of course they were extra sweet to me after that, but I also know they react to our emotions. But how did they know before I got home?

This time around I knew I was pg, but I was worried about my first appt due to spotting and of course my m/c. My one cat would not leave me alone! She was everywhere I went following me and meowing. Once we went to the Dr and found it was twins she backed off to her normal self, like ok she knows there's two and they are ok so I will leave her be

i ABSOLUTLY think they know. With this pg, and the one with my son.. our pit bull put his head on my tummy and sat and gazed up at me. he hasnt ever done this any other times, and wouldnt budge when i tried to push his fat head off me so i believe that they do for sure.

I think they know. My cat Max wouldn't leave me alone through the last pg and m/c... he would sleep right next to my belly. I think they sense the shift in our hormones, emotions, etc... KUP!!! When are you testing?

I think animals sense everything.

When I was pregnant, my mom's dog looked like she was going to jump up on me, but instead she jumped up next to me and laid down with her paw on my leg. She's never done that, and hasn't done it since. The day I lost Quinn, she was moping around like her heart was broken. I picked her up and looked at her and she had tears coming down her little face. It was really weird.

My cat is CLUELESS!! She is not a lap kitty and doesn't look for attention EXCEPT for in the middle of the night. Before, I was pregnant, when I was pregnant and still now after my m/c she jumps on my stomach in the middle of the night and then walks over my chest. It was SO painful when I was pregnant. I would push her away off the bed, but she would just keep coming back. Can any of your pets spare some sense to give to my cat??

ETA: Last night when we were BDing, my cat was standing at the side of the bed just staring at us. It was a little CREEPY!

I think that is amazing that all your animals seem able to sense that. That's awesome. Sacha, my animals are clueless too.

Haha! My cats do that! Even more gross, one time, coming home from work she had gotten a condom out of the trashcan in the bathroom and ate it! (Luckily, she was ok!)

As for my cats, the older one comes and lays on my stomach with her paws on my breasts when I'm pg. It hurts and of course I don't let her stay there, but she doesn't give up!
