I don't have anything that represents my loss. Well, besides the heartache, pregnancy tests, and pictures of my belly at the time!

I'd like to get a tattoo, but not sure what. I didn't know the gender of the baby, although I feel it was a boy. I don't want to get his name tattooed, just a symbol. So many people have no clue I even lost a baby, so I want it to be in a private place, that only DH & I know about.

Where and what should I get? ANY and ALL ideas are welcome!

What about a tat of the sign Quinn would have been born under? (Libra, Taurus...etc)

My son wants a tat of the Taurus symbol and while I don't want him getting a tat this young, I thought it was a cool idea.

If you would like to see pictures of my sweet (but tiny) boy they can be viewed at www.caringbridge.org/visit/noahdarrohn they aren't the easiest pitures to look at but I am willing to share them with anyone who would like to see them <3

I was thinking that. I'd like to get it small, on my foot. Like, literally on my toe.

But, I'm still not sure....

ETA -- Quinn would have been an Aquarius, which is the same symbol as my sister.

You know, when you posted about Squishy, I smiled ear-to-ear because I KNEW that you knew that was Quinn's name before I formally named him!

A fish that looks like Nemo maybe....

Seriously, I think no matter what it is you decide to get, you should go for it. It will be perfect!

I'm scared of tats myself! {shudder at the thought} I do think some type of memorial is cool, though. I like the butterfly idea.

Great minds must think alike, because I've been thinking about this for awhile too, Jess! Have you thought of a little halo? That was one of my thoughts. I have in mind what I want, but I'm terrified to get it. I want some little handprints on my breastbone, over my heart so to speak. I mean tiny little handprints, but then I worry that they'll be too small too and just look like little blobs.

I vote that we all take a group trip to go visit Dwayne and Brandy when the shop is up and running!!!

HAHA!! you crack me up!! You all can show up hows that??? LOL

Jess, why dont you get what i have? I got cherry blossoms. the meaning behind the flower is amazing. Its cute and no one really asks about it.

Heres what the cherry blossoms stand for in Chinese and Japanese:

What Does It Mean For Chinese?

The Chinese invest the cherry blossom with high feminine qualities. For them, it is often a symbol of love, but especially, the cherry blossom represents the power of a woman, that resides in her beauty and her sexuality.

What Does It Mean For Japanese?

Another meaning is carried by the cherry blossom in the Japanese culture. For them, the blossom of the cherry trees is a big event, because they blossom for a short period of time. The delicacy and short life of the cherry blossom give it the significance of being a symbol of the transience of life. This conception has strong roots in Buddhism that says that all things in life are just transitory. Going even further, a stronger significance of the cherry blossom is that but adhering to its secret symbolism, you do not get emotionally attached, as you know that all things in life are temporary.

Japanese also offer great significance to the fallen cherry blossom, which is associated with snow, another important symbol in their culture. There are many literal references in the Japanese culture that connect the fallen cherry blossom and the snow. It is also believed to be a symbol of an warrior’s early falling in battle.

I like all the suggestions. I have two stars to represent my angels and once I have this baby I am going to get halo's put above them and something to represent this baby. I know whatever you come up with will be great and very special to you. Mine are on my inner ankle.

I like the idea of something small on your foot...like a little ladybug or something...or if you want something more boyish maybe like a cute little frog...I like the Nemo idea the best out of the above though

I think you should go with whatever feels right. It doesn't have to be an angel or halo (you know more 'obvious' things). If a certain flower, animal, or object makes you think of Quinn go with that.

Here's a kinda silly idea, if you want something really small that will confuse everyone that may ever see it, get two pink lines tattooed on you like a BFP

I want two tattoos, badly! Of course it's not happening anytime soon....

I want cherry blossoms for a few reasons, one they are beautiful, two we used them in our wedding. I want to change the picture I imagined at first to include a falling off petal for my angel. I also want something just for Noel.

ETA: Butterflies always make me think of Noel so that would probably be what I would get for him.

I love the 2 pink lines!!!

What about a little snowflake. I was reading somewhere, a lady compared loosing a child to miscarriage to a snowflake.
You never get a really good look at it because once it touches your hand it melts, just like our babies we never got to hold before the left us.

If I were ever to get a tattoo (I won't, but if I was going to) I'd get Cora's footprint tattooed on my foot. In the I Spoke With My Child presentation, the child at one point says that she was walking down the beach with her mother, but she couldn't see the footprints because the child was walking on her feet. That stuck with me.

So maybe, a tiny footprint on your foot?

I've been thinking about this myself. My husband and I want to get tattoos together at some point and I started thinking about getting one representing both of my losses. I really like the words in my siggy, Life... No matter how small. I was thinking of getting that in a circle around a small set of footprints or something. Nothing to really show both losses.. just something as a reminder. I was thinking of getting this right under the bikini line on my tummy.

Maybe some day...

Good luck on finding just the right thing!

I'm always pro-tattoo! DH and I got them for our 5th anniversary. I have 5 more that I plan to get. My next one was going to be a Fleur de Lis - but since my loss, I've decided to get a triquetra symbol - I always wanted one, but it never felt right before. One of it's meanings is that of the Mother Goddess; although there are several interpretations.

Maybe I'll go to Edmonton for mine - it's a quick drive for me!
