Hey ladies!

I had my doctors appointment today. It was a consult with another doctor in my practice about the 7 cm. cyst I'm carrying around with me. There was good news and bad. The first doctor I saw said it looked like they might need to go in and take the whole ovary. I wasn't very excited about that but if it kept me from having to deal with this again I was considering it. The doctor I saw today said "NO way! You are too young and still trying to have babies!" See, if they take the ovary on the right there is nothing promising that the cysts won't start showing up on the left. Then I would be in deep dookie! His suggestion is to just wait and since we are trying to get pregnant anyway, just get pregnant. Since there are two ways to keep cysts from forming, birth control and pregnancy, he figured I would want to take the latter. I asked about them going in and draining the cyst. He really wants to stay out of there completely. Here's the way we are looking at it. Although a burst cyst is incredibly painful, it is not medically harmful. Going in and removing the cyst could cause me to lose the ovary. There we have a medical/fertility issue. I'm not excited about waiting for this to burst but I think it's a better option than going in and risking losing righty before we know what's causing it. I have to set up an appointment with a hematologist (blood doctor) just to rule out that there isn't some sort of bleeding issue. The doctor doesn't think that's what it is but want to rule it out. They checked my iron levels today as well as my urine and all is good. So, technically I got a prescription for pregnancy! haha

Now, about that whole loss issue. I talk to him about it and while there is no way to know for sure what the problem is there really isn't anything we can do about it to try to keep it from happening again. Here are my thoughts on it... The first loss in february we got pregnant unexpectedly. Right after my surgery for the burst cyst and removal of my appendix. There wasn't time in between the cyst bursting and me getting pregnant to get another cyst so we can't chalk it up to that. The other factor in the first loss was that I took a seven day body cleanse (herbal pills and fiber powder) after I had gotten pregnant but didn't know that I was. Those are NOT supposed to be done if you are pregnant. I think that would have a lot to do with the first loss. Maybe the herbs in the cleanse cause a problem with the fetus making it non viable. As far as the second pregnancy, had I not tested early I would never have known I was pregnant. They say this is actually a common issue. So, maybe once I get pregnant again I really won't have much to worry about. My husband and I have started taking vitamins (I had been taking mine off and on but starting really trying to remember), getting into better shape and trying to eat better. Working on total health over here! Maybe it will pay off with a very healthy pregnancy this next go around. Thats what I'm hoping for anyway.

I am going to try to get to the hematologist as soon as possible and get things checked out. For now I'm going to hope and pray this thing doesn't burst and that it just magically goes away!

Thanks for taking time to read this! I'll keep you ladies updated!

It does sound like you had a good appt overall, and it sounds like a good thing that your doctor wants you to get pregnant instead of doing surgery!

Hope you get cleared for the blood problem from the hematologist and you get your sticky bean soon!

and
im so pleased they are trying to not remove your ovary hun. they often say one ovary is as good as 2 but i know its not cos i never had trouble getting pregnant or losses until mine was gone!
im sorry you will have to go through the pain of it bursting. they do hurt like hell but if it meant keeping my ovary i would have gone for the same option!
i hope it isnt too painful when it happens hun and that you can have a happy healthy pregnancy really soon
