Well, I had my first RE visit today!
The plan is for me to get an HSG next cycle and also do some more bloodwork (Rubella antibodies, ABO blood type and repeat testosterone).
She gave me a prescription to go ahead and start Clomid next cycle too. I have to talk to Dh and see if he wants to start this.
She said Dh's sperm morphology is fine. She said they can be really super strict on the morph so I guess we have ruled out Dh's sperm as a problem, especially since he has such a great count and motility.
She did an ultrasound and took a while doing it. I have two things to worry about now.
1. She was having trouble getting a good look at my uterus. She said probably it was just tilited to the left, but it's possible that I have a unicornuate uterus. I googled that and it's when your uterus is too small and you are missing one of your tubes. Crap. I hope that's not the problem. She said we will know for sure after the HSG.
2. She said my ovaries look polycystic. Whaaa?. I would have never guessed that. Weird thing is, my testosterone and other bloodwork came back normal. So she's repeating that but she said they don't diagnose PCOS just based on how the ovaries look. So I could have polycystic ovaries but still not have PCOS, I guess. She will give me Metformin if I do get diagnosed with PCOS. I'm not sure that it really means much of anything because she said she could tell that I did ovulate. So since the main problem with PCOS is that you don't ovulate (I think?) then hmm, I don't know. Like I said, it seems so strange to me because the ONLY symptom I have that would indicate PCOS is acne.
So assuming I'm not pregnant this cycle, I should have the HSG in a couple weeks. And maybe start the Clomid. I'd kind of rather do Femara but I think Dh and my Dr are both more on the Clomid train so I may try it out and see how it goes.

Hopefully you will get a BFP this month and not have to worry about taking Clomid.
But if not, sounds like you have a plan and a great doctor

It sounds like you have a great doc. It sounds like she is covering all of the bases with you. I know it may seem strange to have pcos, but you don't have to have all of the symptoms to have it. Although it might explain why is has taken you a while to get pregnant. The good news is that clomid really helps women with pcos carry to term and since your testosterone levels were normal then you have a really great chance. At least these are the things I learned when the dr. mentioned she thinks I have pcos too. I hope the HSG comes back completely normal and then you get your bfp shortly after that!! Oh and don't google too much, lol. It always scared the crap out of me!

Wow, you got a lot of really good info for an initial visit. Hopefully you're pg this cycle and don't have to do any of the tests, but if not at least you have a plan.
Just a heads up, the HSG is uncomfortable but not painful. I took ibuprofin before mine to help with the discomfort. Also, try to make sure DH is there; it helps, emotionally.
Fingers crossed for you!

Sounds like a good visit. About the HSG, it helps a lot of people get pregnant that next month. It happened with me and my friend. It helps to clean/clear out your tubes. Good luck!!!

I'm super excited that you saw the RE and have a plan for the next few months (Of course, hopefully it wont even take that long!) I don't know about you, but I always feel so much better if I have a plan...if this, then this, etc. It drives my DH crazy! Congratulations of finding a great RE who seems to be willing to really take the time to figure things out for you!

Thanks girls.
I'm glad to have a plan but now I'm getting worried because I read the info sheet they give out for Clomid cycles and they want me to have 2 ultrasounds. Our insurance doesn't cover infertility so this will be out of pocket.
I guess it's a good thing to be monitored but at the same time I almost wish I had just taken the Clomid from my OB. It would be so much cheaper because I wouldn't be monitored with the ultrasounds.
I have to verify with the financial person but I think the ultrasounds will be $180 each. That is a lot of cash.

It sounds like you have a good doc and that she is making sure that everything is checked. I hope you don't have PCOS.
Hope you get your bfp this month. I'm sorry about the financial burden this will cause you. $180 for an u/s sounds like a lot of money. Can you go to your OB ask them to give Clomid to you?

Shannon -- I'm glad you got some answers (even though it sounds like there are more questions). I hope you get all your questions answered soon and that you get a nice sticky bean.

Hey Shannon!!
Sounds like you have a great plan from your RE, which I hope leads to a sticky BFP quickly!!
On a side note, my SIL did Clomid/follicle following/etc for several months last year and her insurance does not cover infertitily treatment either. It all depends on how your doctor codes it--if they code it as being for infertility issues then it is not paid for, but if it is coded as diagnostic testing stuff, then it was covered. Just a heads up...check with your RE office and see how they code it (I am sure you are not the first person that's had insurance that didn't cover fertility...hopefully they can help with that!)!
g/l Shannon and what the other girls said about missing you!!! I miss you too

I'm glad your doctor seems to be on top of things. I have been told I may have PCOS too, which was odd to me because I do ovulate, and my bloodwork was normal too. But I was also told my ovaries look polycystic. Clomid is an option for me too, but I am a little scared about that.
Who knows, maybe we'll both end up in the april DDC club together again. When I started TTC again, I didn't think that would be a possibility, but now I'm only a month away from when I conceived my angel.
