My RE's nurse called that my lab results came back and I do NOT have immunity to Rubella. So I have to go get the vaccine today or tomorrow and AVOID conception this month. How wild is that?! Do I even know how to do that anymore?!

I'm bummed because Thomas was going to be an April baby, so a part of me wanted to get pregnant with another April baby. And now I definitely won't be pg a whole year after I got pg with him. I guess all I can hope for now is that I'm pg before his loss date in September.

So no Clomid and I think I will just wait until next cycle for the HSG. As much as I REALLY want to know the results, I know that the HSG increases your chances of getting pregnant, so I'd rather do it when I can actually try.

Anyone else have to wait because of a Rubella vaccination? It just seems like such a "waste" of a month now, but there's no nothing I can do about it.

Oh no, that sucks big time!! I'm so sorry honey. I haven't personally had to do this, but I have talked to women who have. I'm sorry. You know, I really wanted another May baby after Cora, and was crushed when I got AF that month. But, now I wouldn't trade it for anything. I HAVE a May baby, and a June baby too.

I'll work out. I'm sorry that it's taking so long.

I'm so sorry Shannon that you have to wait another month! I haven't had to do this either, but I hope that the month goes by VERY quickly for you!

Shannon, I'm sorry that you have to wait another month. At first we wanted to have a May of June baby so that way I would have the summer off, but I'm happy now too.
I never had to wait because of Rubella vaccination, but I'm pretty sure it's common.

I had to wait a month after I got my rubella vacination....and again once I got my flu shot (I totally forgot about having to wait until AFTER I got the shot). I did read somewhere though that even though we get the vaccines, sometimes they don't 'stick' in our systems.

Oh I am sorry. We also have to wait to TTC. Dr. said today that I have to have this AF and one more before TTC.

I'm sorry Shannon. I was vaccinated as a child for Rubella so it wasn't a problem for me. Look at it this way, it's one less thing that you will have to worry about later.

When I was tested by my RE in 2001 I showed that I was rubella resistant, but when I was PG in 2004 my test came back as NOT having rubella antibodies. I thought it was weird but my doctor said it happens. It's better to get the vaccine now rather than stress our your entire pregnancy, like I did, worried that some little kid would give me rubella. Hopefully this month off will be the little break you need. ((HUGS))

I got the vaccine as a kid but I guess for whatever reason I don't have the antibodies to it now. I wish my first dr had told me I needed to do this before we started trying the FIRST time but she never mentioned it. The whole thing makes me nervous because of the link between MMR and austism and all the nasty things in vaccines BUT I do work in a hospital so I think it's important for me to get this done.

I know in the grand scheme of things, waiting 1 month isn't so bad. I'm trying to think of things I can do this month since I can't be TTC! I don't drink and don't really have any "vices" so I'm drawing a blank here.

lol @ vices. too bad you can't smoke that crack on your month off huh?
i know a month seems FOREVER. but esp if you work in a hospital, you should get it. at least it's just 1 cycle, and not longer.

LOL! Smoking crack and "not trying"? It sounds like I would TOTALLY GET PREGNANT if I did that.

My SIL got the the shot and then found out she was pregnant (I honestly don't remember if she was pregnant when she got it or if she got pregnant right after) but she was freaking out the whole pregnancy. BTW, the child is now 10, smart and beautiful. Although she does have athsma (but so does my SIL).

And about the vax, YOu will probably only be getting the Rubella portion of the shot not the MMR. And the biggest thing about the MMR is that it is give to children whose systems can't handle it. Oh and I don't know if you are into natural medicine or not, but they sell a vaccination detox
I'm only familiar with this company, but i'm sure there are others out there. Maybe you can use this month to do a clease or something too.

yep shannon, chances are if you took up the crack pipe (maybe throw in some gambling and drinking for good measure) you would totally be pg lol.
