My HSG is scheduled for 930am EST and I just found out that I am going to get a catheder (SP?)... I am NOT happy about that. I had one when I had my c-section w/ dd and cried the entire time they put that stupid thing in. Now, I don't want to go and it is too late to cancel. Call me a baby, but UHH!!!! It hurt like he** last time and the thought of it makes me sick to my stomach.

Has anyone had an HSG before and had them NOT use a cath???

They only did that to me when I had my miscarriage. It was horrible!!! I felt so violated.

Good luck!

Oh hon... it isn't that bad, REALLY. The cath isn't the kind you are thinking of... I don't think? They put on in through the cervix to insert the dye. Not into the bladder. Totally different.

When I had mine done I took a couple advil starting the night before and then again in the morning before I went. It was 100% worth it to see that everything was okay. And the fringe benefit is you are more likely to get PG in the three months following the test

I was very worried about having mine done, but it was mainly uncomfortable not painful for me. I hope you are back on tomorrow telling us it was a piece of cake

Easy testing to you

i have no advice because i never had a HSG.
but i have had 2 c-sections and the first one the catheter made me cry too.
so the second one i asked them to put it in after i was numb.

just want to let you know your not the only one who cried

I wanted to wish you good luck!!

I never had a HSG done BUT my OB did talk about it and I think the *cath* is inserted into your cervix not the bladder kind.

I only had one cath ever and that was last baby. I had a Epi so I didnt feel a thing.

I think Bobbie's right...I didn't have the catheter you're talking about when I had my HSG. Like she said, I took some pain reliever before I went in. The procedure was uncomfortable but not painful. Good luck to you!

I had my first cath (bladder) when I had my miscarriage. And I guess I must have had a great nurse, I felt a little pressure but never any pain, not even a little. I was terrified because of all the horror stories but nope it did not hurt.

i have never had an HSG, but I wish you all the best and no pain at all.

I totally agree with Bobbie. It sounds like my procedure was identical to hers. I didn't have pain either, just felt like AF cramps.
