Do you ever buy things for your future baby? My family believes you should not buy anything until you are at least 3 months pregnant.

We always joke with our kids about being tax deductions. Well we went buy target... I love target even though it is an hour away...and I found a little onesis with a huge green $ on it and across the dollar sign it said "tax deduction." I just had to buy it, I may never find another one.

Don't tell my Grandma she will say I have jinxed my chances.

Wow really. I want to buy so many things. Especially on clearance, but my family is so against it. I would have to hide everything.

It started really early. We found an adorable outfit on clearance that I jokingly grabbed and he actually bought it. Now, we usually only buy unique (or clearance items). The ONLY reason I bought the crib set is because I have my heart set on using a safari theme and had one seen one set I really liked. This set matches the pack-n-play and swing I want too. lol Since it was on clearance I wouldn't let him talk me out of it (though he tried).

I'd say do what you and your SO think is right. If you're not living with your family then it would be easy enough to just not show it to them when they visit.

Before there was even talk of us having a baby there was a bunch of NICE baby stuff donated to the fire department I worked at. The lady said to feel free to look at it before we took it to the Pregnancy Help Center. I kept a rubbermaid bin of mixed clothes. Mostly girls. They were all in such great condition! I still had TONS of stuff to take the the Help Center. I ended up having Dahlia about 2 years later and it was great to have that extra stuff stashed. Especially since we didn't have a lot of money when Dahlia was born.

I'm going to a consignment sale in August to shop for Dahlia's fall stuff. I'm sure if things are going well with this pregnancy then I'll probably have a hard time not picking up a few items for the new little one.

Oh, and my husband bought me stuff for Christmas that was baby related.. we found out we were pregnant with Dahlia a few weeks before Christmas and he went out and got a few things!

No superstition here! Haha It worked the first time around!

I really want to and am tempted sometimes but I don't buy anything. I do know the onsie that you are talking about. I have one also. We did a Secret Sister exchange for Easter in the TTC board and my Secret Sister sent me one of them. I have it put up. It is really cute.

you should see the amount of things i have. everything from a moses basket to nappies. the only things i dont have is a pram and monitors!
i dont believe it jinxs my chances at all. the only thing i feel does that is having a pram in my home before baby is born so when i do buy it i will leave it at marks place until baby is here

I cloth diaper, but didn't start with Cori until 6 months. So I have a big stash from her, but have still gone ahead and purchased an entire newborn stash. Hey, it was a good deal!

I've also purchased a co-sleeper because I decided I wanted one after Cori hated her bassinet. I found a cheap one on Craigslist so I bought it.

I've also picked up a few clearance maternity items.

I just have to be able to justify it as being a great deal (or like you said, an item you may not find again) and I'm okay with it (obviously) .

Thanks ladies, you always make me feel a little less insane. Now I don't feel so bad about my onesis. BTW my DH just loves it. He laughed when I showed it to him.

I bought a few bibs. My mom bought me a girl and a boy outfit the last time I was pregnant. They are so adorable!! My mom also bought me a couple of fleece baby blankets. I can't wait for a little one to show up.

I don't think it's jinxing yourself if you buy things early. With the way our economy is going and how our dollar is falling, it's smart to buy things now. It will be a bargain. It's also smart to stock up on diapers too.

I heard a suggestion a while back that once you find out you're pregnant, buy a pack of diapers a week. Each month go up a size.

i never buy anything until i'm past the first trimester. I've just always been like that with all 5 of my pregnancy. I did buy something my very first pregnancy and lost the baby at almost 11 weeks and it was really hard to look at all the stuff i bought hanging up. I gave it to a friend and then vowed never to buy anything in the first trimester again.

What's a co-sleeper? I still get lost every time we go to babies r us to find a gift for a friend. There are so many baby things out there that I've just never heard of.

i haven't bought anything. i'm too scared to even go in a baby store. i'm even scared to buy maternity jeans. i hate this though, i wish i COULD just look at cute baby stuff instead of thinking to myself that if i get anything (even maternity pants) i will lose my baby. i can't help it, even though i wish i wouldn't feel like this.

I didn't buy anything until I got pregnant with Kairi...then waited until the 3 month mark. Since we'll be trying again at the end of this month, I've bought a few more onesies to add to my collection. I'll start buying diapers again once I get my BFP.

Ohh! I did just buy my high chair at the end of last month from Target, it's a space saver version that was on sale for $39 ($15 off).

I bought maternity clothes early on as I couldn't fit my own jeans thanks to the clomid swelling my abdomen.

I had a huge collection of baby things years before I became pregnant, as soon as I miscarried I gave everything away.
I didn't buy anything for DS#1 until I was 16 wks and with DS#2 I didn't buy anything until 20 wks.
