So I went in for a pelvic ultrasound yesterday afternoon for some pain in my right side....the docs all thought it was a hernia but test after test showed no hernia, then today the doc called with the results....

I have an ovarian cyst that is rupturing. The RN that called me said she's going to refer me to someone else and they will monitor it. Also, I am getting a blood test done to make sure it's not malignant. She sounded like it wasn't a big deal, but it kinda feels like a big deal not to mention the constant aches and pains in my right side!

Please let me know if you have any info on this or have had this happen before. I am scared and confused. I will be googling away!

Thanks girls

I have had this several times before. Honestly though its not that big of a deal, the dr. just needs to rule out the worst case scenerio. Women will always have a cyst on their ovary after Ovulation, it is to help the baby grow and it provides the progesterone. And then once you shed the lining because there is no baby to nourish then usually the cyst will disolve.

I have had another kind as well and they had to give me the bcp's to make it shrink. I had to take the pills for about 3 months and then it was gone.

It is kind of painful but once it bursts it will feel better. Sometimes our hormones get a little messed up and thats all it is. I hope you get it taken care of very soon so you don't have to be in any pain. Where are you at in your cycle? Just wondering if that is the same kind of cyst.

Thanks for the info, Rhonda. It makes me feel better to know that you know what I'm going through (although I wish no one had to go through anything painful!) Anyhow, I'm at CD 25 of a 28 day cycle. I have been having this pain in my right side, more like an aching for a few months now, so I don't know which kind of cyst it would be. I'll be getting more tests done asap.

Thanks again

im sorry you are going through this. i wouldnt wish it on anyone.
i lost an ovary due to a large cyst but they managed to remove the cyst and save my other ovary.
since then i have cysts every month and they are left to rupture themselves. it is painful but the option of losing that ovary doesnt even compare to it. it rather have that pain every month that know i could never have another child.
i pray it goes soon without causing you too much pain
xx
