So First of all my disclaimer is that THIS IS TOTALL HYPOTHETICAL!!!

Not that I even have any reason to think like this, but what are the odds of actually getting prego with an IUD? I went searching on the Mirena (the brand I have) site and they said it is slim to none, but... im still wondering. Ive had mine in for like 2 months-ish, and still have yet to have a period... usually u have the first few then they dissapear, I dont know how common it is to immediatly have it cease to exist. Anyone have any ideas? Im to the point where I might email my OB that placed it for me... or POAS... i dunno...

I think technically the odds are less than 1% with pregnancies being more common within the first year of an IUD being placed.

I had the Mirena for 5 years and removed it to ttc our last child

Do you have any other symptoms of pregnancy?

the odds of getting pregnant are supposed to be less than 1% but it is actually more like 2-3%
the main problems with mirena are side effects and difficulty getting pregnant after its removal. in most cases it happens no problem but if it happens within first 3 months of being removed it can result in loss.
also be warned, it can come out itself no matter what you are told. mine was in for 7 months, caused me to get P.I.D and came out itself with no warning. now look at me, 9 months later and still trying.
sorry but i hate the mirena! lol
i bled the whole time i had it as well so that can vary from person to person.
it is unlikely you will get pregnant while using it though, just not impossible
xx

Eleysia, before you consider Mirena especially, you might want to talk to the girls on the TTC After IUD board. Apparently TTC after Mirena is not as easy as they would like to make it seem. Just thought you should know that.

I had the Mirena put in in Feb 2003 and had it until Jan 23rd 2008. I had my first period after the removal on Feb 22, 2009 and conceived 2 weeks after that. But I had tons of problems with that pregnancy due to a problem when the egg implanted and I do wonder if it was related to the IUD.

Thank you all so much for the info. I dont have any signs of pregnancy per say i just thought id ask lol. Im not stressing the whole TTC after IUD 1. cuz it has been put in about 2 months ago, and 2. i dunno if ill even have another baby. like i said tho i do appreciate all the info, and Steph i might go lurk over there a bit and see what they have to say. im not gonna have it removed anytime soon (unless it flys out like sarah's lol) but information is always good to have. love ya girls thank you.

My biggest reasons for asking were no AF for 2 months now, and I keep feeling like im gearing up for AF but no such luck. Weird drems latley and such too Im absolutly 100% sure it is nothing what so ever pg related, just thought id ask. I still need to POAS just to solidify that it is just me over reacting tho.. havnt done that once since my D&C. I think it would be a good idea.
