hi ladies! i have never been on this board because i am just recently back on JM after getting pg and having a m/c 4 1/2 weeks ago. anyways, im sure you all get this question often, but please repeat it one more time for me! hehe. when did you all get you AF after your loss? and do you count from the day you started the m/c or the day you finished? i am 31 days since i started the m/c. i know it varies, i just want to know what the general concensus is. thanks a million!

First off let me say that I am sorry for your loss.
You have come to the right place, the ladies here are all supportive and wonderful.
I think the general rule is 4-6 weeks before AF arrives. I am not positive if you would start the count on the day your miscarriage began or when it ending.
Hopefully someone else will be able to answer that portion of you question.

thanks so much for your response. i knew everyone in here would be so nice and supportive because of my expriences on other boards at JM! but a loss is so difficult and i am thrilled there is one dedicated just to this, becasue support is exactly what i need. this has been the hardest experience i've ever been through.

I am new here too and the support has been wonderful.

Hi, and welcome to the boad!!!! I am sooo sorry for your loss. I lost my twins in April at 20 wks, and started AF about 7 weeks later. I thought it would never come, and I remember getting very frustrated!! I had AF symtoms for over a week before it showed. My Doc told me to expect AF anytime between 4 to 8 weeks after the loss.

Hello and welcome to the board...I'm sorry for your loss
I would say start the clock at the completion of the m/c...your body doesn't start to recognize its self as *not pregnant* until your hCG levels fall back below 5...
Is your doctor doing bloodwork to monitor your hCG levels to make sure they are going down?

I am sorry to hear about your loss.
I think that it's different for everyone depending on your body and type of m/c. I had a natural m/c @ 9w6d. I got AF 23 days later (exactly 4 weeks from when I first started spotting).
I agree with Katie, 4 - 6 weeks seems to be the norm.

With both my m/c the dr told me it could be anywhere from 2-8 weeks to get AF because every womans body is different, and it depends on how much HCG you had in your system and how fast it drops back down. If you chart you would want to count the first day of bleeding as AF and do your chart from there. So i would say you count the first day as bleeding as CD1. With my m/c in December i have no clue when AF would have came back, i know i O'd 20 days after the m/c, and got a BFP that month. I sadly lost that baby as well and after that m/c had my first AF 38 days later, not O'ing until CD28. Good luck with TTC and lots of baby and sticky dust to ya!

thanks to everyone for the responses! i definitely had signs of O last weekend, so with that in mind im kinda assuming i will have AF in about 2 weeks? i dont know though. DH and i began to try again a week after my bleeding stopped. my dr. said mine was so early so he didn't really see any harm in starting ASAP. i know all dr.'s have different opinions in this matter. but my cycle has been like clockwork ever since i started AF when i was 13, and i've always known at least the week i would start my AF, so its soooo difficult as it is a mystery to me now, i dont want to start it when i am not prepared! lol! that and i will not know when to test since we have begun TTC again already (continuing to try is the only thing that will help to keep me sane!). i guess i will just wait it out and see how it goes. oh and yes, a week later i had my blood levels checked and they had completely went down.

I am so sorry for your loss.. My 12 w m/c I cant remeber but I got pg 3 cycle later with my now 16 yr dd
6w m/c about 6 to 7w later
6w m/c about 6 to 7w later
17w m/c about 7w later
17w April 08 It took 13 weeks for first real af and non spotting/bleeding cycle. It took so long for the hormons to drop and my milk came in and stalled af even longer.
It really depends on your body.
I should mention I got pg first cycle first 4 m/c. I am currently in 2WW after last loss.
I wish you the best in ttcing

I'm sorry for your loss but I'm glad you have joined us. Everyone is different but I was told that it shouldn't take longer than 8 wks for AF to show. For me, I started counting from the day the m/c started and it took 55 days for AF to show back up. G/L to you hun and I hope that you will stick around and join us. I look forward to getting to know you better.

i want to thank everyone for the responses. i figured everyone's answers would be different. this whole thing has been extremely difficult for me, especially because there are at least 5 girls in my life right now that are having perfect pregnancies. anyway, i guess i will just have to wait out this AF thing. it guess she will either come or she wont (since i'm TTC again already)! i'm on day 32 since the start of the bleeding. it will be 5 weeks on monday. i want to POAS so badly, but i know that chances are i am not going to be pg this fast after m/c. my body has been playing tricks on me lately though. over the almost 8 months of activley TTC, i always got tender breasts (maily nips) around my time of O. After 2 days or so the tenderness would go away. so they started hurting last weekend and i figured "i must be O'ing" but they really having stopped being slightly tender. im sure i am just a little messed up from the m/c maybe. but i want this so bad, as i am sure we all do. its hard not to become a little obsessive!
