Hi everyone. My name is Laurie and DH is Andy. Our daughter was stillborn on June 26, 2008 and I had a D&C on July 26, 2008. My OB told me to wait two cycles after the D&C, but my GP only told me to wait one (no, I didn't tell my GP that I had already asked my OB ) so obviously I am going with my GP's advice. Anyway, I am waiting impatiently for AF, and I was wondering (for those who have had a D&C) how long it took AF to show up after your D&C? DH and I did BD once without protection , but I doubt I would be pregnant again already. I would be thrilled if I was pregnant again, but I just keep thinking that this is going to be a long road. I don't know why, except that maybe I am trying to avoid disappointment. Anyway, It feels good just to be looking forward.

Hello Laurie. My name is Jennifer and I am one of the co-host for this board. I'm so sorry to have to welcome you under the circumstances. I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter. It's always heartbreaking to have to welcome new members. I can't really offer any advice because I haven't had a D&C but I think it really depends on the person. Everyone is different. I'm sure someone on here can give you an idea but I have heard it shouldn't take longer than 8 weeks but I am not positive about that. I just hope that when you are able to start ttc again you get your sticky BFP quickly. These ladies are all wonderful so feel free to ask any question you might have. Everyone here has been where you are in some way. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Laurie, I'm so sorry for your loss! If i remember corectly it took a few weeks after the bleeding from my D&C stopped, but it was very light so im not sure if that counted? My body was all kinds of funky afterwards so i think it depends on the person. Make yourself at home, we are all here for you if you need anything!

Hi Laurie, my name is Kimberley. I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter. I can't answer your question about the D&C, but I'm sure that someone here can.

Welcome Laurie. I am sorry about your losses.

My D&C was largely unplanned. I planned on letting things happen natures way, unfortanately nature was unkind. I had an emergancy D&C due to hemorage. After my D&C I bled for a 2-3 days and spotted another 2-3 days. I had no spotting or bleeding for 21 days. Then my first cycle arrived, heavier than normal and lasted a little longer. I was lucky that I could go back to TTC so soon because I know others have not been so fortunate. It varied form person to person. I think my doctor told me anything from 3-8 weeks was normal length of time for AF to show up.

Hi Laurie

I am so sorry for your loss, but this is a great group of supportive women.

I waited 5 1/2 weeks for AF to arrive after my D&C (about 7-9 days longer than normal). My doctor said it could take up to 6 or 7 weeks and still be *normal*. I would wait a couple more weeks and then test if AF still hasn't arrived.

I hope you get your sticky bean quickly!

Well, I got AF yesterday - exactly 28 days after my D&C. It fits with when I thought I O'd, so hopefully my cycle has returned to normal. I was happy to get AF because I could start trying again, but it also made me sad. I shouldn't be getting a period yet, ya know? Anyway, thanks to all the thoughtful greetings and helpful D&C info. Here's hoping for a June baby!
