I have only told 2 friends that we are TTC. One doesn't have any kids and isn't TTC for a while. The other has 2 boys a year apart and got pg her first cycle trying for each. She keeps telling me to "relax" and to "just have sex everyday - that will work".

ARGH!

I guess I never thought of that!

Ugh, I can imagine how sick you'd be of that. I've made it a policy to NEVER say something like that to someone. Relaxing doesn't get you pregnant. And I'm sure you guys are DTD enough, I mean, you ARE trying after all....

honey. And lots and lots of baby dust to you!

"Just don't think about it and it will happen"...what??? Not think about it??

Is there ANYONE who is TTC and is not thinking about it....???? That's the most unrealistic advice I've ever heard!

OMG, we have to have sex for that to happen?

I heard the same thing several times even AFTER it had been over a year and we ended up at the RE. Sadly, DH is 'broken' so the only way we're getting another baby is via the RE. If only people thought before they spoke.

why do people insist on saying stuff like that?
ok i always say relax, chin up and stay positive but thats different, im not telling you how to get pregnant, just advising you to not worry too much during the tww!
some people are lucky and get pregnant without trying (me in the past) but jeez, we are all here cos we are trying and not been lucky enough so people like that can go get stuffed imo
(yes im still staying away from the fags! sorry! )

I even had an OB/GYN that told me I should relax....that I was still young and had plenty of time. I looked him right in the face and said...."UMM, I'm here because YOUR OFFICE said if I'd been trying over a year and nothing had happened I should come in. IT'S BEEN OVER TWO YEARS!"

He said give it six months, so I got a new doctor. lol I do get very sick of that kind of advice. Someone told me the other day that it would happen when I least expected it. Uh, I've been trying for 2.5 years. Trust me.....I don't expect it to ever happen naturally. And guess what......STILL NOT HAPPENING! Thanks for lying to me.

I can't stand the "relax it will happen" advice!

More recently, since my m/c I can't stand the "Don't worry you'll get pregnant again" comments. I know they mean well, but c'mon. I know I will. It doesn't mean I'm not devestated that I lost this one!

"Don't worry, you'll get pg again" I must have heard that about 100 times after my m/c last year. It was like a slap in the face every time.

I haven't heard the "relax, it'll happen" cuz I don't talk about TTC with anyone, but all of our friends that have kids got pg on the first try, none of them have had m/c, so that gets a little depressing like there's something wrong with me.

At least we all have eachother on here. I don't know what I'd do with you JM girls.

yep. "relax" and "it will just happen" and "you'll get pregnant when you are ready" and "God has a plan for you, and maybe you're just not meant to get pregnant just yet"

I just want to smack those people in the face. Hello, I'M READY. I've freakin been ready. How much more ready to I have to be?

I am so sick of hearing these things. As soon as they start to say it, I finish it before they can and throw in another couple of things I have been told. I get so sick of it. People are always so nosey about things that are private, and never understand why you want them to remain private. People always seem to want to know "who's fault" it is that I am not pregnant yet. "Who's fault" it is that we lost our baby or why.

It's useless advice.....Some people don't think when they are saying this things. I think by now we all now that we have to have sex to get pg, I was not awake m on my of my biology classes but I did get that far... DH actually told me "to get drunk and we'll get pg, it happens to college students all the time".

Thats funny. I have a friend that I went to high school with (male) and when I told him that we were considering having a third child (this was before we started to try) he told me (in a joking way because this is how we joke) to get a bottle of the cheapest nastiest liquer and an old beat up car and park behind the high school and it was a sure thing. I'm considering taking that advice right about now! I guess there must be some truth to it if others know about this method too! LOL
