I took this directly from Cameron's journal entry. Please read it.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, 2008 10:04 PM, EDT
Sorry for the late update, but we've hade a very long day. Cameron and I started our trek at 8 AM. After a breif stop for some refreshments, we made it to Chidren's in Columbus around 9:45 AM. Labs were drawn and were essentially the same as they were on Monday. Weight was basically inchanges (he was down 0.2 kg). His platelets came in at 43, which is above the cut-off of 30, but dcided to give him some anyway as we are going in to a holiday weekend. When platelets were finished, it was decided that he needed fluids, however, they run over 4 hours. We didn't leave the building until after 5 PM. A very long day for the 2 of us, especially when you consider that nothing was really accomplished. We have no final plan as we are waiting on some outside bloodwork, etc. We're hoping that by next Thursday we will not only have a plan, but will be ready to set it in motion. We could opt for pallative care which would keep us primarily at home, keep him as comfortable as possible for whatever amount of time is left (today the dr insinuiated 2-4 months) or we can fight, try to get him to remission and then try to get him to transplant. Ths plan is dangerous with high mortality rates, but the only one that is not throwing in the towel. Not one of us is ready. I recognize that the outcome could be the same no matter what we choose, but the first option is a guarantee. The second option offers some hope. I think I was pretty clear today with what I want (which is not what they are recommending). I supposeI could be persuaded to something different in the next few days.
Will update more when I can think logically.
Lori

That is so sad. I don't know much of the story, I'll have to go read everything, but I can't imagine what they're going through right now.
