Hi ladies, I just miscarried a few days ago, I was 13 1/2 weeks pregnant. (I was part of the February ddc) I'm very anxious to start ttc again, my doctor mention something about waiting 3 months. But I feel like that's a long time!

I'm thinking of waiting for one full cycle to pass, then trying. How long did you ladies wait? Any thoughts?

How long does it take for your period to return? I'm worried my period will take longer to return since the baby was 13 weeks when it died. I hope that's not the case because I don't want to have to wait a long time.

Thanks for any info-
Jamie

I'm very sorry for your loss, but welcome to one of the most supportive boards around!

I had two losses, and after my first I waited one cycle unintentionally. I intended to wait three cycles after my second, but my body tricked me (don't laugh). My losses were both fairly early, so I don't think I did too much damage to myself with the subsequent pregnancies. I've heard one should wait the three cycles out after later losses, but I've also read studies that show there is no harm or benefit to waiting, so I think it all comes down to when you feel comfortable. I think waiting until you're definitely emotionally ready is the best bet. Physical pain seems easier to soothe than emotional pain does sometimes.

Hi Jamie,

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm Kelly, I've had 3 m/c with the last one at 10 weeks on Aug 8. Your question is by far the most frequent question asked on this board, and unfortunately there is no "absolute" answer to it. You might have af right on time after your m/c, but it also could take a bit longer because of your later loss. Everyone seems to be different when it comes to that (in another week I'll know whether my body is going to be back on track right away or not ). As far as doc's recommendations....you could ask a hundred docs and you'd get a range of responses, from not waiting at all to waiting 3 to 6 months. I've been on this board for awhile and I will say that waiting one cycle does seem to be the most common advice though. I agree with the advice to think about the emotional side of things too.....but you're in the right place to talk about that stuff if you need to.

I'm sorry for your loss

I lost our son at 20 weeks about 7 weeks ago. My period started 5w6d after he was born. We waited 1 normal cycle and started ttc again this month.

Good luck, I hope your stay here is short.

Hi Jamie, and welcome! I am very sorry for your loss.

I completely understand the feeling of not wanting to wait for 3 cycels, and wanting to TTC right away agian. I think that for some people TTC right away is part of thier healing process. I lost our angels at 20 wks, and was advised to wait one cycle before TTC again. I was also advised not to TTC again until I was emotionally ready.

As for how long until AF will show, it is different for everyone, but the most common time range is between 4 to 8 weeks. I hope your wait for AF is short, and that whenever you do decide to TTC again, you get a BFP right away.

Hi Jamie, I am very sorry for your recent loss. Welcoming new members is very bittersweet here. I look forward to getting to know you better. This is an amazing group of ladies.

After my loss, I was told that we only have to wait one cycle before TTCing again.

As for AF, she returned 23 days after my loss.

Welcome Jamie,

I am very sorry to hear of your loss.

With my miscarriage, I was 5 weeks 1 day along, and my first period came 32 days after the bleeding had stopped. Ever since then, my cycles average to be around 33 days. AND I'm on the pill, so, explain that!

I hope you stick around, this group of ladies is my support system, indefinitely!

ETA - I'm still waiting to begin trying, post my m/c. But my reasons are out of my control.
