I take Materna prenatal vitamins. I took them for both of my pregnancies but I'm looking for a better one. I'd like a natural one with DHA.. but I'm having troubles finding one locally. Boo!! So Materna it is for another... 100 days
If you take them, what do you take?

I take the Nature Made Prenatals. They were on sale at walgreens so I got a huge bottle. There's not much left so I'm hoping to find a different brand. These are HUGE and taste gross so I want to find something easier to swallow. Any suggestions please????

I take prenatal vitamins every day. I'm currently taking the Safeway brand of prenatal vitamins. They were buy 1, get 1 free for the big bottle of them. I believe 300 tablets in each container. So, I got 600 vitamins for $15.
I like them.

I take the generic brand of Prenatals from Costco. Exact same ingredients at 1/3 the price - my Dr. suggested it. I also take extra folic acid and cod liver oil each day.

I've been taking CVS prenatals since like March/April, but they are almost out and I had bought another brand a while ago because they were on sale. If I don't like them I'll go back to CVS though since I haven't had any problems with them. Or maybe try BJs since I'm sure they're cheaper.

I take prenatal vitiamins ordered from the doctor .I asked him what difference with the ones over the counter and the ones that he ordered me .. He said that the ones over the counter are missing on ingredient and you would have to take another supplement along with the prenatal vitiamins. Hope that makes sense .

I'd say big, smelly vitamins are a good thing, that means they have lots of natural stuff in them. The natural vitamins adsorb alot easier in your system and are WAY better for you than synthetic. You could try cutting them in half and taking one with breakfast and the other with dinner. Materna is quite large, too, but it's not smelly... I have had a problem with it upsetting my stomach though - this is the first time I've taken them before getting pregnant so I just thought the upset stomach was from pregnancy, but apparently it was my vitamin!! I'm going to try taking half in the morning and half at night and if that doesnt work I will switch to... something else I have no idea what yet though.

Right now I'm taking a multi with a folic acid supplement. I may or may not switch to a prenatal if I get pregnant as my midwives told me the multi with a folic acid supplement was fine. I would probably feel better w/ a prenatal at this point. We'll see, though.

I was told that too but then I did my own research ... look into Synthetic Vitamin A (Not beta-carotene) and it's effects on the fetus as well as Vitamin B6... because too much of either is dangerous and I was looking at regular Multis and noticed they had ALOT of synthetic Vit A. I don't remember the brand I looked at though... I would just look at your multi and make sure the Vitamin A source is either all Beta-Carotene or least MOSTLY beta carotene. As well as the appropriate amount of B6.. I think it's 1.9 mgs. Hope I helped.

Ok, well my multi have 75% of Vit A and 29% of that was beta carotene. So not great, but not awful. They also have 2 mgs B6. I looked at the prenatals at the store and some didn't have beta carotene at all and a couple had 100% beta carotene and they had way higher amounts of B6 than than my multi. So what's more important, having a beta carotene as a Vit A source or not having a high about of B6.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Swallow the pill with milk or something other than water. That always helps me. MY OB stressed the importance of Folic Acid build up in your system before pregnancy to help lower the risk of CP and other spinal defects.

I am taking a pre-natal plus 100mg b6 and a baby aspirin. Higher levels of b6 can increase the LP and can increase the lining of the uterus, which is where I'm having problems. Neither my ob nor any research I read online indicated any problems or danger to the baby with levels of b6 up to 200mg/day.
It's also good for morning sickness if I do get pregnant

I'm taking the COMPLETE ONESOURCE PRENATAL multivitamin. They aren't to big but they do make me sick if I try to take them on an empty stomach. I don't know a whole lot about what is good to take and not to take. The Dr. Just said to get an OTC vitamin and take until I get pregnant and then he will prescribe me some.

I won't start taking pre-natals until I get those two lines. I'd be taking Materna, as well.

I actually found out recently that when and how you take vitamins can drastically affect how well they work. Most prenatal vitamins say to take them on a full stomach and with a full glass of water ......
