This morning DH got up and went hunting. Cori woke up when he was leaving, so he brought her into bed with me (a pretty common thing on lazy mornings). She is such a wiggly sleeper, that she must have turned sideways and slid off the bed backwards onto her head. I woke up to her standing next to the bed crying softly. I didn't think much of it, since she was moving around and everything. After about 10 minutes of continued crying though, I started to worry. Also, she turned her head to the left and wouldn't straighten it out. I called DH who said not to mess around with neck stuff, so I called 911. Emergency response is not great where we live, so it took awhile for them to get there (DH actually got there before the ambulance...I don't even want to know how fast he drove). She got scared when the sheriff came in and climbed into my arms, still not moving her head. So, instead of putting her on a board (which would have been a major struggle), I rode in the ambulance and held her as still as I could. When we got to the hospital they wrestled her into a neck brace...yikes! Very traumatic. Anyway, x-rays came back fine, so they are calling it a strain. We are home, she's had Motrin, and she seems to be feeling better. She still won't turn it all the way right and she still tells me it hurts...but the ice cream definitely helped. We probably didn't need to do the ambulance thing, but I'm not one to take any chance with a neck injury. Thank goodness she is okay!

I'm so glad she is ok Kelly. What a stressful morning.
You were right to call 911, you don't want to mess around with a neck injury.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I hope that she is feeling better soon! Kids are so tough. She'll be running around again before you know it.
