Anyone trying to lose weight before ttc? I concieved my first at the weight I am at now, and everything went fine, but truthfully in an ideal world I would be about 50 lbs slimer. I was wondering if any of the other ladies here are working towards a ttc ideal weight? I've started journaling my diet, and that has been somewhat helpful with mindless eating.
I see my gyno next month and I am thinking of asking him about phentermine? anyone tried that? My friend has lost 40 lbs trying to get to a better weight before ttc...

I conceived Quinn being 235lbs, I'm down 20lbs since that, but it's taken over a year and nothing really changed in my diet and/or exercise. I'd ideally love to lose 60lbs before getting pregnant again, so we'll see what happens!
I'd love to see your journal! Where is it located?? And please, let me know how the talk with your Gyno goes!

I'm not trying to lose much weight - just 10lbs or so. I was 8lbs away from my goal weight when I conceived my son and gained and extra 10 around the time we lost him because I couldn't function enough to actually cook meals at home so we ate ALOT of fast food/take out. So now I'm trying to get back down those 10 lbs, but just by eating healthy and exercising a little with my daughter and our puppy. I don't think medications are a good idea - but that's a personal opinion. I think you are headed in the right direction with your food journal for sure!! Good Luck!!

I agree, medication may not be the best route. You've got me second guessing myself, my DH doesn't want me to get on meds. But I've been trying to lose weight for 6 months now and I've only lost 15 lbs. Its depressing. I guess I haven't been trying as hard as I should. So I'm at 215 now and I'd like to be 170 before we start to try. That is 45 lbs, and that seems like a lot! I am not real sure how to go about doing it without completely starving myself. Which might not be a bad idea, its worked in the past.

I know it's hard doing it the natural way
Just try really hard to cook all your own meals and to "eat a rainbow" every day. Lot's of different colored fruits and veggies. Plus Fiber, lots and lots of it! It you use white flour switch to whole wheat or NurtiBlend (white flour mixed with wheat bran) that way if you break down and do some baking (mmm chocolate chip cookies!) you can make them whole wheat at least which means like 4 grams of fiber per Cookie! Just look for things that are high in protein and fiber because they fill you up faster and keep you full longer. Like Whole Wheat pasta... a bowl of that and I'm STUFFED but white pasta I could eat like 3 servings! Oh yeah and remember to eat salad with every dinner - change up what you put in them and the dressings you use - or even Make your own dressing! my fave - Olive oil, white or red wine vinegar, a little dijon mustad and minced garlic = YUM! + lots of Good fat. Your plate should be 1/4 lean protein 1/4 starch and 1/2 veggies (steamed + salad) no need to go hungry! Just fill up more on the veggies than meats and starch! I really hope I helped a bit.. let me know if you have any questions or ever just need someone to talk to

I would love too ,but I am no mentally ready yet. I have such a problem trying to lose weight. I can go and eat and exercise and lose nothing. I have been on Phentermine twice and both times with alot of hard work I have lost about 60 lbs. So it is possible ,but It is possible to do without. I just have not found that way yet .
Goood luck

its funny, because I buy very healthy foods, and cook everything with lean or low fat, fat free, reduced calories... We dont eat out EVER... so here is my problem (because believe me... its not that I dont have one.. ) I do a LOT of mindless eating... munch here, munch there... late night snack...and something I am working towards quitting, and have cut WAY back on, beers. Miller light, or red wine. I love it! My vice... oh yea, and my other things, coffee w/ creamer... Oh yea, a cardinal sin! I love my coffee, but I am almost out of creamer and I've swore to quit buying the creamer, going to sugar/slpenda... my plan is to get off the coffee and switch to green tea, then decaf green tea... but its going to need to be slow, i've been a heavy coffee drinker for a while...
So... I guess I eat a lot of mindless junk, but its not really junk, but all of it added together is bad... and portion control... good lord, the list goes on!!! so well, I've decided to not "diet" cause I HATE that word... but I'm going to be more consious of what I am putting into my mouth and I'd like to cut back to three meals a day, one afternoon snack, no coffee or ati-sweetners, and no eating after 7,and smaller portions... sounds like a good plan! now to implement it... Hmmmmmmmm

I have reached my goal weight- Just recently, I am now 62kgs (136 pounds) which is what I was prior to my first pregnancy so I have now officially lost all my baby weight.
I do heaps of exercise- I run/cycle/box and of course my survivor WEIGHT WATCHERS!! love it.
A few years ago I weighed 100kgs (220 pounds) and I lost 38kgs (84 pounds) with Weight Watchers- it took a long time but I did it so I am very mindful of my weight now as I never want to go back to that weight again.
