You're going to want the kind with just Guaifenesin, I'm pretty sure. It loosens and thins mucus, which is what you want. I'm not sure if they've changed their formula names or not, I thought it used ot be something else, but now the straight Guaifenesin syrup is call "Chest Congestion." Everything else seems to have a cough suppressant and/or other stuff, which I'm thinking would be unnecessary medicine.

ETA: You could probably find a generic syrup that has the same ingredients for less $$$. Just look for an expectorant syrup with the same amout of Guaifenesin as the Robitussin.

This is what I bought before I mad this post so I think I bought the wrong thing

cough formula dm generic for Robitussin dm. I thought i just read that there is not supposed to be any letters that follow right ? So the active ingredeinents are Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin. Is it only suppoesed to be the Guaifenesin

It should only have the guaifensein in it. It will just say robitussin, not the dm or other kind. I took it for a while too. I hope it helps you.
