Heya ladies...most of the ladies from chat the other night know but I don't think I officially posted it anywhere else...

I'll be MIA through the weekend because my Great-Grandma died...she was 89 and was just getting too old...she was always so independent...did her own grocery shopping, paid her own bills, still lived at home alone...all until about a year ago...she started the beginning stages of Alzheimers so they moved her in with my Great-Aunt...then she fell and broke her hip and the docs couldnt fix it...her bones were too brittle...so then she got bed-ridden and put in a nursing home...and if anyone knew my MawMaw Bert they knew that is not the way she wanted to live...

Friday my mom called me and told they had to put her in the hospital because her kidneys were starting to fail...Saturday they told my Pawpaw (my grandpa) that she would be on permanent dialysis and would never receive a donor kidney due to her age...so basically she was a ticking time bomb...PawPaw was with her at the hospital all day Sunday...he left her room at about 1030PM to go pick my MawMaw (my grandma) up from work and while he was gone she quietly passed away in her sleep at 1115PM...

She was the last of my Great-Grandparents...I was really close with her because my mom was an only child so she was one of only 4 grandchildren for them...my PawPaw Tobe passed away on Christmas in '01...they had been married for about 65 years...so the fact that she lived that long without him was a testament to her independent being...

I don't think we ever got a picture of her with Cameron and Keegan but we did get a really neat 5-generation picture on Christmas in 2005...It had MawMaw Bert, my Pawpaw, my mom, me and Cameron...

Just another realization that no one lives forever...

Aww, honey, I'm sorry that your family is going through this, but at least she's at peace now, right? I'm glad you get to go to the funeral. My DH lost his grandmother in April, and his grandfather in October and we weren't able to make it to either funeral, and it was hard for him.

Take care of yourself and your family, and try to have a good trip!

I'm so sorry, Danielle!!!!!

I hope you have a safe trip, I'll be thinking of you girl!!!!

Now your MawMaw and PawPaw are together, smiling looking down on you. (That's what got me through losing my Nan (grandma) 3 years ago, knowing she was with my Pop (grandpa). Didn't take the pain away, but I knew she wasn't by herself.)

and Plenty of prayers heading your way!!!!
