Okay I need some help. I am sure tons of people have gone through this but I am just feeling confused. On Nov. 17, I had a miscarriage at 6w3d. I only bled for 7 days and it was completely finished then. No spotting after that or anything. On Dec. 10, I had an ultrasound to make sure everything was gone. (They never did any HCG bloodwork even though I begged.) Everything was in fact gone and all looked good. It just so happens that I was ovulating that day. I had perfect cervical mucous, bright positive OPK, ripe cervix position, major ovulation pains and to top it all off, a perfect sized follicle in my left ovary (side of O pain) on the day of the ultrasound. The next day all of this was gone. So I am pretty sure I ovulated. DH and I BD a couple times around there. So I have not had a period yet since the m/c but going off of my normal leutal phase, I should have started 2 days ago. I didn't, so I tested. And it was a BFP! BUT- I am scared that it was from the previous m/c and not a new pregnancy. The nurse keeps telling me its probably not a new pregnancy, don't get excited, blah blah blah. So what am I to think? If I didn't have such an obvious ovulation, i could understand it possibly being remnants from the previous m/c. Also, I had a ton of OPK's left and was using them as pregnancy tests after I got a real pregnancy test with the previous pregnancy. After the m/c I took another OPK as an HPT and it was very negative.

I go today and Friday to get blood work, so I will know for sure then. My boobs are sore and thats about it. I guess I am fearing that maybe my body only wanted to ovulate and didn't and then this really is the old hormones. But if that were the case, this HPT I took yesterday POPPED right up. That would mean theres was enough HCG to be strong. If there was that much HCG, why would my body try to ovulate?

Thank you all in advance. I am sorry this is so "all over the place". I am just so confused but don't want to get false hope. I know you guys all understand that- which is why I come to you.

First off, I am sorry for you loss.

It sounds to me that you shouldn't have enough HCG in your system to result in a positive HPT a month after your miscarriage.
Hopefully the nurse is just wrong and this is indeed a new pregnancy.
Good luck and KUP on the results of your bloodwork.

Katie- i really hope your right. I want this badly. I think its the rudeness of the nurse that is scaring me. I hate waiting until friday. But hopefully it wont be too long...

I'm so sorry for your loss!

I agree with Katie, it does sound like you have a new pregnancy. Maybe the nurse is telling you that so you don't stress out about being pregnant again. Either way, she shouldn't be saying anything to you. I say you test again, every other day until Friday to see what the lines do.

and Congratulations!!!!

First, I'm so sorry for your loss.

IMO, it seems unlikely that you would still have hcg in your system almost a month after a miscarriage, at least one that was relatively early. Your body is primed after a m/c for pregnancy, which means you could've been extra fertile. Don't listen to the nurse, it's not her business to say whether or not your pregnant. I would probably agree that you shouldn't get too excited at this point, but there's not reason not to be hopeful. In a couple days you'll know for sure. Try not to go too crazy while you wait. lol KUP!

The only thing that would concern me is that if you're sure of your ovulation date you'd only be 6dpo today. It's not unheard of to get a BFP that early but is pretty uncommon...

How dark was the 2nd line?

Good point, I didn't think of that. Hmmm...quite the mystery...

I think the nurse is a complete you know what to say that too you. I got pregnant excitally 20 days after my m/c last Dec, and didn't have an AF in between. So its very possible. I bet you anything its a new pregnancy and not just left over hcg from the m/c

Do you know what any of your beta hcg levels were right before or after your m/c? They may not have needed to do them because the u/s is what they would do if the hcg wasn't going doing in the right way. It's my understanding that hcg levels decrease the same way they increase. They decrease by half every 2-3 days. By counting backwards and decreasing your numbers by half every three days, you'll get an idea of what your hcg might have been when you TTC and when you tested. hpts are pretty sensitive these days. you could still have hormones high enough that show a positive test.
But, I think we all agree with JO (kingdink)...It's quite the mystery You know you were ovulating because you had the ultrasound, right? And you TTC. So, it could be a new pregnancy. Wouldn't that be awesome! Let's hope it's a BFP you have for Christmas this year.

I'm really sorry for your loss. And, I hope your results are what you are hoping for...please keep us posted! Either way, the nurse shouldn't be giving you her opinion if it's upsetting you. Good luck with the bloodwork.

I think it's very possible you are pregnant again. I know everyone is different.. but 2 weeks after my miscarriage at 11weeks 3 days... my HCG levels were back to normal. SO I can only imagine that yours would also have been back to normal.

I wish you the best and pray that you are indeed pregnant!

Ok sorry for the confusion ont he O daye. It was Dec. 3rd...not the 10th. I am sure you all were like WHAT?? Lol...but yeah it was the 3rd so that made me 12 dpo when i tested.

klt- They refused to do HCG levels after my m/c. I have no idea why not. It was a complete m/c though. They did the u/s on the 3rd and my uterus was already back to normal. (as normal as it can be after a m.c I guess.) There was no remnants.

I just got back from the lab and gave blood there. I should get a call this afternoon with the results. I won't have another draw until Monday. Again, this office doesn't feel it necessary to draw but every 3 days. I guess they think every three days is a full three days BETWEEN the draw. So I got it today and then the next one they would do was Monday because they are not open on the weekend. Ugh its annoying. I really like this office but despise their initial nurse.

thank you all for your well wishes. I will keep you up to date as I know. Hopefully it wont take to long to get results back!

I'm so sorry about your loss...

It's not unheard of women getting pg after a m/c without having a period, so it could be that you are pg, I doubt that the hcg is still showing from a month ago, so with that said I think it's a new pregnancy.

You can get pregnant right after a natural miscarriage. I had a miscarriage on Setpember 21 of 2005 , Dh I went on a work trip just us and had a little fun !!! That was around October 5th . A couple weeks later I had not had my period .So I took a test not even thinking that it could be possible that I was pregnant . Well I took the test and there it was a BFP. I was so shocked. So yes it can happen. Good luck !!

I think that it is completely possible that you are pregnant again. When I miscarried I immediately ovulated and had the most fertile cm that I have ever had. It was gross. I hope this is it for you. Good luck

First I'm sorry for you loss, and 2nd Congratulations Yes it is possible to get preggers immediately following a m/c. I did! I had a m/c in May 2002. I never made it to an appointment but figure i was about 5wks along when i miscarried. I bled for 10 days, but the next month AF didn't show up. I waited until she was about 1 wk late and tested~BFP! I went on to have a healthy pregnancy (well except for that darn placenta previa, but it moved at 27wks).

Thank you all for your kind words. It is so relieving to hear of similar situations. I went and had bloodwork yesterday and it came back at 13 dpo at 57.4. I will get another draw on Monday and will know for sure then. I would think that 57.4 is kind of high for having had the miscarriage a month ago. What do you guys think?
