Movie Marley and Me : WARNING

Girls, I just wanted to warn those that might want to go see Marley and Me that in the movie is a VERY real and painful occurance that I was NOT prepared to handle... I almost had to leave the theatre... even DH was very upset...

The mother is in the doctors office getting ready to see an ultrasound of baby.. she was almost ten weeks.. the u/s tech searches for a heartbeat but then says "I'll be right back" and goes to get the doctor... the doctor comes in and takes a look and then he says to her "I'm sorry sweety, there is no heartbeat" It showed the u/s screen and it really brought me back to a very painful moment in my life.

She had a miscarriage... my heart hurt so much... I was NOT expecting that in this movie... the movie was well made but was NOT what I expected.. it was alot more serious than I had anticipated and not really for young children.

I'm so glad you told me. I really wanted to go see it, but hearing about it was bad enough, I don't think I would have been as strong as you.

Thanks for letting us know. My 9 year old is reading the book, and wants to see the movie. I'll make sure that I watch it first, to see if she could handle it.

Oh my gosh!!! Thank you so much for telling me this. I thought you were going to tell me that the dog dies...and I was like, OK...the dog always dies in the movie. I'm so glad I know about this other part. I think I would have lost it in the theater. It's just too soon for me and painful.

I read the book. I know what happens, but, until you posted, it didn't really hit me that the u/s and m/c might really bother me. And, I know it will bother me. But, I'm going to go to the movie. And, I'm going to cry. I'm going to cry and let myself feel bad about the m/c, my m/c, and the dog. I'll bring Kleenex. Lots of it. We're surrounded by prenancies and losses. It's in our lives. It's in the media. It's everywhere. I think I'm finally ready to do this...
