For 2011 are we going to have to climb Mount Everest??? HOLY COW this is a big goal!!
Not that we're not up to it - it'll just stretch our posting skills!!!
I have to figure out my New Year's resolutions today (it requires thought, and I haven't had my coffee yet).
Kelty - I'm adding a resolution for you: Get a SIGGY!! Hrm, maybe that'll be one of mine too!!

Hi Cheryl - I'm still drinking coffee (yay, at least for another week...boo) but I will suffer when I give it up again!!
I LOVE your siggy by the way - you & your husband are a cute couple!
If I can ask a clueless question, and only because we have you here as a resident expert, what exactly IS a birth doula? I've seen articles mentioning it...but wasn't really sure what it was.

a birth Doula is a professional labor coach. I do tons of diffrent things, it depends on the couple. I do home, birth center and hospital support. I provide non medical support, encouragement and information. I can help a mama labor at home before going to the hospital, I can support a family getting an epidural or going natural, I can help them avoid unnecessary intervention (episiotomy, cesarean, etc).
In a birth, the medical professionals deal with the health of the mother/baby unit, and the doula provides for her other needs by reassuring her things are normal, helping her get comfortable and meet her birth goals and helping integrate her other support persons into the experience.
I hope that clears things up!

Thanks Cheryl - that's really helpful...how do women typically find a doula locally? Do they advertise with the hospitals or anything?
Not that I (sadly) need one right now...but having someone who actually knows what's going on (esp. since we just moved, so no family will likely be near us when labor occurs) seems like a really good idea since it would be our 1st.

you can google doula and your city.... hopefully you'll find someone.
Also you can look on the DONA.org site-
it sounds like a doula would be very good for you. She will meet with you 1-3x before labor and be with you during labor till a few hours after your baby is born. Then do 1-2 postpartum visits as well.

Good morning ladies...just checking e-mail and I thought I'd stop in.
My husband hates my hair He's not being mean about it, he just doesn't like it. OK...here's what I did. I have been coloring my hair since the mid 80s! I have no idea what my real hair color actually is The only time I ever know what my hair color kind of looks like is when I am pregnant (I won't color my hair) By the end of a pregnancy, I have a blonde ponytail and the rest of my head is dark dishwater blonde (pretty brown if you ask me) . When I was PG with DS #3, I decided to have lowlights put in just prior to TTC. That way it wouldn't look so bad. Well, this time, going into the new year and hoping for a BFP, and a healthy and happy nine months, I had my hair colored to it's natural color with a few highlights. It's going to take some getting used to. I've been a very light blonde for my entire life! When I walk by the mirror, it kind of freaks me out.
Lara, does this mean I'm lying on my license??? OH, wait, I already have my weight wrong...never mind.
Cheryl, your job sounds so interesting. I would love to have know about being a doula when I was younger. I really think I woul d have loved doing what you do...
talk to you all later...

Kelty you're just all stealth now from a license perspective! Do YOU like your new hair color?? Sounds lovely, and change is always good.

Lara, I don't really know if I like it or not. I really don't have to look at it...and whenever I pass a mirror, I kind of forget that I had it done. I like blonde hair on me better, I know that...but, I'm really hopeful to be PG soon, and then I can't color it (I know some people say it's safe. I'm just one of those people that can't do it.) I definitely like this over the PG head that I had when I was pregnant in the past. That was horrible, and we have lots of pics to prove it.
My temp dropped a lot today. from 97.86 down to 96.39 (I'm dead again with a temp that low) I shouldn't be getting AF for at least another week. I'm only 7dpo. Now I have to worry about a short luteal phase, too?!?!? I'm hoping it was just because I didn't get enough sleep last night. (3-4 hours) I'm cramping and my back hurts, but, I can't imagine that I'd have a 20 or 21 day cycle. That would mean I had a 25 day cycle, a 23 day cycle and now a 20 day cycle. Prior to the m/c I had 26 day cycles like clockwork! Man, this is frustrating! (Thanks for letting me vent )
What are everyone's plans today?

Yay!!! I'm glad you ladies kick started the goal!!!
Kelty, your hair sounds really pretty!!!! I used to dye my hair sooo many times, with different colours all the time. Now, I keep it one colour, and it's a box colour from the drug store. I like it, I like the dark brown on me.
My new year's resolutions:
1. Lose some weight
2. Get the 1st part of my driver's license
3. Pay off my credit card debt
4. Save money to move out
5. Get and STAY pregnant!
Cheryl, your job sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
