I am scheduled for a D&C tomorrow. development stopped at 6 weeks, but the sac is measuring at 9 weeks...
I am worried about pain and recovery.
I have fibromyalgia and anything pain related is really magnified for me.
I've had general anesthesia before where I am basically out, but I feel pain during procedures anyway...
I just wonder what I should expect with a D&C and anything about recovery... is their pain afterwards, if so, how long did you have it for?
Is bleeding heavy?
I'm nervous...

So Sorry for your loss. I don't know much about fibromyalgia, but I had a D&C last August. It was uncomfortable for sure, but honestly it wasn't painful. I would say I was feeling ok the next day, physically. I did have bleeding and spotting off an on for over a week. I was given vicadin for pain, but I only took it the first night to help me sleep. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I honestly think the emotional pain is much worse then the physical, make sure you take time for that to heal too. HUGS to you.

i'm so sorry for your loss girl. they are so difficult to deal with!! big big big hugs to you!!!!
my D&C really wasn't anything bad. you aren't that far along and they won't have to remove alot. so that is good. I was 8 weeks and my baby died at 6 weeks. they procedure went fast and i was up and moving the next day. no cramping for me and just a bit of bleeding. one thing i will say is that the more physical activity i tried to do, the more bleeding i experienced. but i felt just fine, so it was hard to rest.
If you need anything, please let us know! HUGS

I am so very sorry for your loss - I remember your earlier post in Dec, and I had hoped the outcome would be better for you.
My D&C wasn't bad at all and I was under general anesthesia...the pain after the procedure (for me) was less than I expected - not even as bad as cramps during AF - and I barely needed Advil. The cramping was worst during the first couple of days, then mostly gone...although very light bleeding continued for about 10 days total. I took the week off (had the procedure early Monday AM) and I think I probably would have been fine to go back w/in a couple of days. Agree with Lynda, that the more you can rest afterwards the better/lighter the bleeding is - esp. on first day I'd recommend laying down rather than sitting up (I found this out the hard way).
I was also very nervous before my D&C, and I found the experience stories posted by other women in the Pregnancy Loss board to be really helpful to me. If I managed to do this properly, this should link you to them: link to D&C experience stories

I just read your blog too, it almost made me cry! I'm sorry you're going through this.
I had a D&C in August at 10 weeks, and it really wasn't bad at all. They didn't put me completely under, but it felt like I was. I didn't remember a thing. I had very minimal bleeding and very minimal pain after. Honestly, it was pretty painless. I'm not sure how your fibromyalgia will affect it though, but I hope you have a "good" experience as well.

I had a D&C in May and the pain was not bad at all. I was very tired the first 2 days but that was the worst of the physical part of it.
I am sooo sorry for your life, unfortunately we have all been there.

Im so sorry for mine I was about 9wks 5 days i think. Mine was no problem at all. I got completly sudated (some women just have their cervix numbed), and it was over in like 15min I believe they told me. I had no discomfort. A few tiny cramps afterwards (they placed an IUD for me and i think thats why), but that was it. I had minimal bleeding ect. it was a pretty ok experience. Better than my natural m/c IMO.
big hun. I hope yours goes as smoothly as mine did.

to what everyone else has said. Mine was at 10 weeks and it was much less pain than I expected. I didn't need any pain meds after the first night. I was completely out (which I was glad about...for psychological reasons). For me, the emotional recovery was much harder and the physical recovery wasn't bad at all.
I'm sorry you have to go through this at all, but I wish you a speedy recovery.

Mine was at 13 weeks 6 days, the baby measured 13 weeks but it's heart had stopped beating
The d&c itself wasn't that bad, emotionally - could be a different story, hopefully it's not that bad. My body has been out of wack since my d&c though - I ovulate fine and on time but my LP is only 9 - 11 days.
