Hi Mamas, I am Sara, happily married to Scott and full time mommy to Carter (14 months).

We were expecting again in September, but just had a miscarriage

So how long after your miscarriage did you start TTC again? I have spoke to my doctor about this, but I am curious real life experiences.

If you had a D&C did you follow the no sex for 2 week rule? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think I am going to sign up at fertility friend so I can start charting and figuring things out. Our last 2 pregnancies occurred naturally without really charting or anything but I have total baby fever right now and want to TTC as soon as possible!

Hi Sara, I am Heather. My little boy was born too early on December 17, 2008. DH and I waited about 1 week to Bd again (after the bleeding stopped and I felt okay) following my D&C- I had some retained placenta and are currently TTC. I lost him about 6 1/2 weeks ago and just went for my 6 week follow up with my midwife. She said she is a fan of waiting 3-6 months to TTC, but there is no medical reason to wait. She thinks it may be better emotionally, but also recognizes that many people grieve differently, and if it seems right to you she won't stand in the way. I have a great relationship with this woman and love her to death- I also know tht she will not give me false information just because I want to hear it. I hope this helps. In response to your questions:

So how long after your miscarriage did you start TTC again? My OB recommended I wait 3 cycles...I compromised by waiting 2 cycles (but it was over 3 1/2 months b/c it took so long for AF to return after my D&C)

If you had a D&C did you follow the no sex for 2 week rule? Yep, and my doc actually recommended we wait 1 additional week after my 2 week d&c follow up appt. I also followed the no baths (only showers) rule as well - and I think that was actually harder!

I also chart with FF, and just broke down and subscribed to the VIP membership...so you're welcome to come obsess with those of us who are currently charting!

Hi Sara!
After my first m/c they told me I could start TTC right away. I miscarried naturally, so no need to worry about waiting after a DNC, but I also bled for over two weeks. My other two were chemicals so no need to wait.
My RE was treating my hysteroscopy like a mini DNC, but also told me I could start right away, but warned me that my body had to reset itself. I still have not gotten AF which was due a week after it, but instead got positive OPK’s! So if you decide to try right away, watch all symptoms so you don’t miss it.

I'm so sorry for you loss I was due in August but just had a m/c as well a little over a week ago

I am following the no sex rule for the 2 weeks just because i don't wanna mess anything up lol i'm super paranoid, the Dr's said to wait 3 cycles after a D&C but we are going to only wait one cycle and the my RE is going to help us try again

I'm so sorry for your recent loss. You will find that this group of ladies is awesome. I'm glad you found TTCAL!

I'm new to charting. I love obsessing over our charts, even though I have no real experience or knowledge of bbt at all! Join us. If nothing else, I find temping and charting gives me something to do while I wait for AF, wait to O, wait for the day I can take an hpt, etc..

I had a natural m/c in Oct so I don't know the wait time after a d&c. I hope your body normalizes soon so that you can TTC and get your BFP.

Thanks everyone! Okay I get the idea it's likely best to follow Dr's order and wait on the sex at least until my follow up appointment.

Talk about TMI, but my hormones are still out of whack from being pregnant and I really feel like I want to BD, not to get pregnant, just for fun! Okay, okay I'll wait!

My OB said there is no real medical reason to wait to TTC, but I will just start charting for fun and see where that takes me. I was REALLY looking forward to a September baby and not being due in the hustle and bustle of Nov/Dec. We already have SO many birthday's in November, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. I know that is silly of me but I was SO happy with September, I think it's just something I am holding onto because we wanted the baby so bad. So we might chart and wait it out a bit to have a January baby, seems reasonable.

A little more about me, thanks for compliments on Carter he is my little sweetheart. So many mom's I know hope for girls, but I say give me a little boy that loves his mama any day! I don't even care of #2 is another boy, fine with me! Of course girls are so darling and dreamy, but I don't care as long as I get a healthy baby and I SO mean that.

I didn't have a D&C, however, I do see that the ladies were able to help you out with your questions! I also agree in waiting to have sex, like the doctor mentioned to prevent infection.

I didn't have a D&C and my Dr. told me to wait until after AF showed to start TTC again. My acupuncturist (former Dr. in China) said to wait 6 months. We started to TTC right away, but are still waiting for our BFP. I think if you're emotionally ready then go for it.
