FACT OF THE DAY:

What is the longest running Soap Opera?

Guiding Light, previously known as The Guiding Light, which has aired on CBS since June 30, 1952.
Furthermore, it is the only television soap opera to have started as a radio show.
The radio version aired on NBC, starting on January 25, 1937.
Counting the radio years, Guiding Light is the longest-running show in broadcast history.

PS- I hate soaps (more of a Lost/Hero's kinda gal) but I just wondered which was the longest running since a commercial just showed for one !

THIS HAS BEEN YOUR RANDOM USELESS FACT OF THE DAY! ENJOY IT AS YOU WISH!

That's a really long time! I'm not a fan of soap operas either, but I know people who record them each day to watch when they get home from work! I have promised myself that when I am on mat. leave that I will not ever tune in!

I know, my step-mom is an addict. She remembers things on soaps (like anniversaries, b-days, who's been married to who and for how long, etc.......) but can't remember how long DH and I have been married . She's totally addicted, maybe she needs a stay at the Soap Addiction Clinic !

As I kid I used to watch the ABC soaps, but General Hospital was my fave. (I'm talking like under 10yo!) Anyhow I was flipping through channels the other day and I think it was General Hospital, but the guy who played the character Luke (of Luke and Laura) was on the soap! I mean come on! Along with Susan Lucci how long can one person stay on? Although I always hated how they kept the character but changed the actor/actress.
