I'm new here and I'm so confused right now and can't get into the doctor yet.
I tested positive last week and my HCG levels came in at 14,281 on Friday, at approx. 5 weeks pregnant, so really good and high levels.
However, on Friday night I was watching tv and felt a little gush. I stood up and there was blood on the couch, so I ran to the bathroom and passed what I assumed was the baby. However, I'm getting different reports on what the "baby" should look like. There was no 'grey' tissue in it at all. It was an oval shaped piece of something that looked literally like liver, but redder. It was fairly firm, I tried to squish it as I wasn't sure what it was. It was approx 1 1/2" wide and maybe 1/4" thick, so not too big.
Anyway, I bled a bit after that, then stopped and I have only gotten the occassional spot of blood since. My breasts still ache, etc. which I assume they will as my HCG comes down, if in fact, I had a miscarriage.
Does the description of what I passed sound like one or not? I can hopefully get into the doctor tomorrow to get my levels tested again. SO frustrating waiting.

I am sorry you are going through this.
From what I remember when I miscarried, what I passed was definitely more red than grayish. It was semi-kidney shaped. Sorry I don’t remember more.
Just try to stay calm, it may not be what you think. Just wait for confirmation.

It sounds like you passed a blood clot.
You need to have more beta's done. Bleeding in the first tri can be very common.

Well, yes...bleeding is the "norm" for me too. Ok, I'm going to head to the ER to see if they'll do a beta on me tonight, I can't wait, it's driving me batty!

Fetal tissue is definitely grayish pink in color. Clots on the other hand, look just like liver (sorry, tmi) or that cranberry sauce in a can (even more info that's just too much...sorry) You can have fetal tissue with a clot, but there is a definite difference. They actually showed me the two at my m/c because I had been hemorrhaging and was ONLY passing clots. I hope you get your answers tonight. Have you had any cramps? Most m/cs are also accompanied by pretty intense cramps (not like when AF is here) Please keep us posted! Good Luck...I'll be thinking about you. And, we're here if you need us! I hope everything turns out OK...

All is good for now, phew!!
I have NO idea what I passed, but thank you so much for the input. I haven't been having cramping or bleeding which really confused me, as I've had 3 miscarriages already. My HCG levels more than doubled and she said the numbers were nice and high for almost 6 weeks - and she's pretty sure it rules out ectopic. There is some blood, but I'm a bleeder, I bled for 11 weeks straight, bright red blood with my son. I actually freaked when it stopped, go figure.
My u/s is scheduled for tomorrow or Wednesday so we'll get to see what's going on inside. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that baby is in the right spot (not another ectopic) and all is ok.
Oh, and I got my Winro (rh negative) shot today too, so that should help with the bleeding.
And here I totally thought I m/c again...geeze....

Ultrasound went GREAT! We saw the baby's heartbeat, yay! Baby is measuring 6 weeks 3 days, so all is looking good right now. They noticed a small spot of blood on the u/s, away from the baby, which is probably why I bled and may bleed again. Phew!
