Ok, so I'm waiting for my first AF to try to TTC for baby #1 again after a miscarriage in December. I just don't get it. I'm officially seven weeks from my D&C, almost nine since finding out the baby had died. According to my BBT, I ovulated two weeks ago (FINALLY) and still no period. I was TTA. My temps dropped today, indicating that this thing should be starting uh... now? I've been spotting for a week and horribly, it feels just like I did when I was pregnant with sore boobs and ab twitches even though I know I can't be. Why can't the bleeding just start? Go flow go! I can't get pregnant again until this happens! It's been at least 14 days...I think more like 16... that's long enough! I don't need any more LP days. Why is AF taking her sweet time? As if it isn't bad enough to loose a baby, do I really need to have false pregnancy symptoms to remind me of what happened? Isn't it horrible enough that I'm waiting impatiently for my period when I should be half way through a pregnancy? UGH. this is TORTURE.
Did anyone else have this for the first AF?

Mine was similar - except I wasn't temping at the time so I don't know when I actually O'd that cycle. It took 47 days for AF to return after my D&C...and I had intermittent spotting for a couple of weeks before AF actually showed...not a lot, just enough to make you think it would come at any time.

try to hang in there, I know the waiting is so tough! My OB said they don't even worry about AF not showing until after 8-9 weeks post D&C b/c I guess there's such a wide range for women after the procedure.

First off I am terribly sorry for your loss but I am glad that you have found this board...every woman here understands the grief and frustration that comes with TTC after a loss...

Unfortunately...(especially after a D&C) our bodies are completely jacked up...your hormones are all out of whack which unfortunately make temping a pretty unreliable source of information...and depending on how high your hCG got before your loss will greatly affect how soon AF shows...

Did your docs do a follow-up after your D&C to be sure they got everything?...or did they happen to run bloodwork to make sure levels dropped back <5?...

Also, it is VERY possible to get pregnant again after an early loss before your first AF shows...if you are pretty sure you Oed 2 weeks ago have you tried an HPT?...

Sorry for the million questions...but the more we know about your situation, the more we can help you...

Once again, I'm very sorry for your loss

Hi. First, let me say I am so sorry for your loss. I'm kind of lurking around in this forum. I m/c Dec. 27 and I still have not seen AF either. I don't know when I Oed because I don't temp or use OPKs but I did notice mild spotting 10 days ago (which went away after 2-3 days). I have no idea why AF continues to be cruel after a loss. I hope we both get to see AF soon so we can ttc #1.

I am so sorry for your loss. It doesnt seem fair that after everything you've been through, the ONE time you want AF to show her face? Nothin! Hopefully your body will normalize soon so that you can TTC! If not, give your doc a call. I agree with Danielle. You need to find out that your levels are down and that everything is "returning, or has returned, to normal" Welcome and good luck. Please keep us posted. There are a number of women on this board that had a recent loss and are waiting "patiently" for AF to return. I hope you get that BFP soon!!!

Ok. I spoke too soon. Or maybe too early in the morning. Or Maybe all I needed to do was publicly whine about my menstrual cycle. I think we're getting somewhere now...

And thanks for your suggestions. I never had my levels checked again, but my temps were pretty crystal clear with a rise and for 14-16 days and a drop today (though I suppose you never know...). It's the spotting that's driving me nuts. I guess if I'm not having a normal period in a few days, I'll definitely call my OB! It helps to know that it wouldn't be abnormal for my hormones to be so whacky...
Thanks for the advice

The wait for AF sucks!!!! I personally only waited 32 days for AF to show again. With D&C's I've heard they can take 6-8 weeks to return, possibly longer.

I agree with the other ladies in going to see your doc to get your blood drawn. Also, try using a pregnancy test, usually the ladies on here when they see a -, their period comes within days!

Good luck!!!

I am sorry for your loss. Everyone's body recovers at its own pace. Of course when you're ready to TTC again the wait can be excruciating! I'm glad that AF finally showed and hope that you get your soon!

I didn't have a D&C but I'll tell you that AF was a strange monster for about 5 cycles after my loss. My first AF came days after the bleeding stopped, then came again after like 28 days, then didn't come back for 45! I was all about the testing then. In any case, just breathe and relax. The more you stress (of course how can you not) the less likely AF will come. Things will mellow out and AF will come and you can move on to TTC. I wish you well and luck and condolences for your loss.
