Ok, so I was wondering what everyone eats either before becoming pregnant, during, etc.

I am do not call myself a healthy eater. I am a HUGE sweet person. I always have to have something sweet.

Our meals are usually: faijtas, pre-cooked chicken (strips, BBQ'd, etc), then we'll eat cane green beans, pinto beans, brocolli, et. THEN, I'd ave to have cookies, brownies, anything I can find :-).

Not to mention I don't drink milk at all.

Do you think I eat good enough, poorly, or good? What are some of your meals you cook to have a healthy body?

*** You think we should make a recipe thread that stays on the top??***

I know I dont eat the "best". I sounded like you a few weeks ago. I bought frozen meals, or like Bob Evan's meals that you just heat up. But Ive honestly been trying to eat better and more at home.(To save money too) I have a subscription to a magazine called Simple and Delicious, i pick recipes for the whole week, go shopping, and take the leftovers for lunch the next day.

One very recipe... that I recommend that my mom used to make me... Its soooo Yummy and it may sound gross but...

Cook Pork Chops (4) in a skillet. Add Two cans of cream of Potato Soup till soup is warm. Cook White Rice... Serve Potato soup poured over rice!

But to be honest, when you get pregnant... or maybe just the lucky ones like myself.... EATING is the most random thing. You'll ether have all day morning sickness or NOTHING will sound appetizing at all.

I’m not a total health nut, but I have tried to move to eating more natural and healthy foods.
My FIL raises cattle so I have a freezer stocked with beef, but I buy a lot of chicken, pork and fish. I have moved away from anything with to many additives, including the meat. And I bake, grill or broil as a rule (does get broken every once in a while)
Lot’s of fresh or frozen veggies- the only canned thing I will buy is beans and tomatoes. Even switched to organic dairy when I can get it.
I have a fertility diet book which is just low fat and high veggies, but my RE blasted it, he wanted me on a low carb diet. I’m compromising with keeping things lower fat but including my whole grains and other carbsand eating meat). The one thing they both agreed on was it's important to get a serving of full fat dairy a day- doesn't have to be milk can be cheese or ice cream just make sure it's full fat.
My weight is an issue though and I haven’t been able to really lose any (stupid thyroid!)
I do cheat with candy- being good and staying away from chocolate but I’m addicted to Dots and Jube Jells right now.

Your diet sounds good, I would just switch to more fresh or frozen veggies for the nutrients.

I LOVE recipes, so please feel to share!!!

I am not a breakfast person -- I can't seem to eat anytime before 8/8:30. When I was pg in December I was doing relaly good with eating in the am and having yogurt 3 times a day. But, of course now that 'm not pg i've gone bck to old ways :-(.

I need/want to get something down like Karen said and have a weekly dinner schedule :-)

If you want to find some really easy recipes that have easy to find ingredients check out kraft.com, bettycrocker.com or basically look through your pantry and see what websites are on the boxes. These sites usually have really good recipes that you make mostly from their products (not strange ingredients you have to go to a specialty store to find). I use these sites when we have my stepkids here, that way I can be sure everyone will eat what I am cooking (DH and I can get pretty adventurous with the gourmet ingredients when it is just us- but nothing nasty!!) I believe it is Kraft that has a magazine they send out periodically with TONS of family friendly recipes in it- you can sign up for it on the website. The best part is that all of the nutrional info is also listed so it is easier to eat healthy.
