Here are the pictures of those crazy tests I took. The top one is clearly negative, but the two bottom ones are pretty easy to see (the one in the middle was darkest). What do you think??? Keep in mind that these were taken 10dpo, no other subsequent BFP's, and I have already started AF! What do you think??? To me they are clearly false positives.

Sorry I missed the whole story...what kind of HPT's were they?? About two months ago I took a HPT because my dh and I had a few oopsies and I was worried. I used a FRER and took it apart...let it sit there for about 20 minutes and it was clear as day two pink lines...I put it back together with the moisture and it went back to white. It was so weird.
I'm really sorry AF showed.

I can see a slight line in the second test. Maybe the test was faulty ~ OR ~ have you tested again recently?

Yeah, they were FRER!! I really wish someone had told me this, I did a google search with the words "First Response early response false positive" and I found ALL KINDS of stories about this happening. When I thought back I realized that ALL of my BFP have been on the Equate (walmart) brand. Usually because I run out of the really expensive tests then end up using the cheaper ones. I have decided that I will be using the equate from now on, I have seen and experienced very good things with them!!! I continued to test up until yesterday when I started AF, and still no lines on the more recent tests- It's craziness I tell ya!!!

I'm playing devil's advocate... Are you sure it's a true AF? Next month will be different!

I think "false" positives are too often blamed when it's really a chemical pregnancy.
It's very possible you had a chemical pregnancy and it produced just enough hormone to give you the BFP for a day. If you had gotten the line on one test then maybe it could be false, but on 2 I'd be more likely to believe there were some hormones there causing it.
FRER's are crazy sensitive. I personally have gotten a BFP and had a blood test the same day that put my HCG at 5 and I have a friend who took one and got a BFP with a HCG of 4.

Hmmm... I don't really know and there is no way to know for sure. AF seems to be pretty normal so far, I have what I consider to be medium bleeding- not super heavy or anything like that, but pretty normal. No unusual discomfort, so who knows. I know it's really frustrating!!! I also took another FRER (that is not pictured) the same day and it was negative. I think the biggest problem is that I read the tests too long after the 10 min limit.

I agree with Alicia and that it could be a chemical pregnancy, however...like you mentioned, you checked the tests after the 10 minute time limit, so there's no way to truly know.

Yeah...after looking at those I would have been totally excited. i feel awful for you...what a bummer. I actually had the opposite happen with the FRER. I got a definite neg with FRER and a positive with the dollar store brand. How is that for weird. Yes, the FRER was positive the next day, but, I would have expected it to be positive the day before.
Bummer... and then AF shows. Double bummer.
Here's hoping for a bfp next cycle that looks like two really dark lines!!! Or a + or a digi that says "pregnant"

If you checked it after the 10 minutes, then it is likely just an evaporation. Here is a link to a post I just made on the TTC board today about evaps.

False positives are so uncommon, it is way more likely that it was a chemical pregnancy. FRER's are sooo sensitive both of my BFP's were on FRER's at 11DPO and I went on to start AF 4days later. (both were chemical pregnancies)
