I went to pick up my Lovenox yesterday and found out my insurance only covers 10 shots per month. I need 30!
It's a $60.00 co-pay for those 10 shots and will cost me an additional $700 out of pocket per month for the other 20 shots. There is no way I can afford that

I'm sooo sorry. Insurance companies suck on what they will and won't cover. Is there an appeal process with your insurance? Maybe if you call or write a letter.

Are you seeing an RE? Maybe someone in the office had bought a bunch of the shots and can re-sell them. I know mine does that. I saw several postings in his office from women who had stuff left over. Not sure how that works legally, but if you can save money...

I am sooo sorry!!! It's crazy how insurance works. Once my midwife gave me an RX for 1mg of folic acid, when I went to get it filled at the pharmacy they made a big deal out of the insurance company not paying because it was a higher dose than usually prescribed. I started getting REALLY worried and thought it was going to cost around $150. When I asked the total price it was only $4.26!!!! And my BCBS still wouldn't cover it!!! Crazy!!
Have you thought about asking your doctor to prescribe a higher dosage and you just adjust to dosing yourself. Some meds have very little cost difference between doses ( some pills cost the same at 50 mg and 100 mg and you can just cut the pill in half). Do you draw your own injections or are they prefilled syringes? Either way, talk to your DR and see if they have any 'tricks' you can use.

I was just talking to a friend who was on this and they said that sometimes they will only give you 10 per co pay. She also said to check with Walmart because they have it cheaper.
Maybe you could talk to the doc about overriding the ins.?

I am so sorry, that is SO expensive!
I like the idea of your doctor RX a triple dose then you give yourself the correct dose if he is willing to do that.
I would also speak to the doctors office, I don't know about this drug, but they do get samples of a lot of drugs and know about patient assistance programs. Do not give up, whatever you do!
My last though is that drug is made by Sanofi, here is a link to their patient assistance programs page, maybe they have a program to help you cover the costs? Here I found the specific number for the med you need For requests concerning Lovenox® (enoxaparin sodium injection), please call 1-888-632-8607.
Good luck!

I like the higher dose idea, if it isn't premeasured. That is what DH's dr does with his cholesterol meds. He prescribes him twice the dose, but has him cut it in half. I hope you can find someway around it!

Well, we're over the income limit to qualify for the drug assistance program so that's a no go
I'm waiting for my OB to call me on Monday to see what he wants to do.
2 very wonderful ladies have pm'd me and offered to send me their leftover Lovenox though and I can't tell you all what a wonderful gift that is and how much I appreciate their help

My insurance denied my entire treatment including meds.
I got around most of it by switching my primary OB/GYN to my RE. Then they covered most u/s and office visits. I think I ended up paying under $300 for the entire cycle of visits. My meds on the other hand.... 6 vials were given to me by a friend who decided against TTC and still had the same meds as I was being given. (We had the same RE) another 10 were donated from my RE.... and I had to buy the rest myself. I think it ended up costing me about $300 in meds including the trigger shot for that cycle when all was said and done. I was one of the lucky ones and one cycle was all it took.
I hope when you talk to your RE he/she can figure out somthing for you. FYI Freedom Pharmacy seemed to have some good deals on meds when paying for them yourself. I wish I had some left to give you.... I sooo would do it!
Good luck and lots of that the first cycle is the lucky one!
