Hi all. Some of you may remember me, but the newer ones probably won't. I haven't really been on since I had a ruptured ectopic in December. I couldn't TTC, and everything relating to it depressed me.
Anyway, my question is regarding methotrexate. I had two methotrexate shots (given at the same time) at the beginning of December. After my tube ruptured, the doctor said we should wait one cycle and then we could TTC. He told me to take 4mg of folic acid, which I've been doing religiously. Anyway, during my research on the internet, I keep finding references to waiting 3 to 6 months to TTC, so we were going to wait until April. I was wondering if anyone else had had methotrexate, and what they were told. I don't want to wait anymore, but I don't want to put another pregnancy at risk. I don't know how much more loss I can take. Also, I was wondering, since I only have one ovary now, will I be ovulating from the remaining ovary every month or will it still be every other month?

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. I haven't had an ectopic pregnancy but I think a few women on here has. Hopefully they will be able go give you some answers. You might call your doc and ask why you've read to wait 3-6months and see what he/she has to say. He/She may have a reason they think it's okay.

Laurie,

Katt knows a bunch about the shot you're talking about. Send her a PM, I'm sure she has all the answers you're looking for!

Welcome back girl!!!

Hi - I also had an ectopic last summer. You will only ovulate from the side with the remaining tube every other month. When I asked my dr what happened to the follies on the ovary without the tube, she said they would "float away"....which helped not a bit. She said that should I continue the TTC journey, I would need to get the shot to stimulate ovulation so it would force them both to kick the follies out.

I was in a fog for many of the conversations we had about this - I reserve the right to be wrong. While details are fuzzy, I am pretty sure I have the general idea.

Unfortunately, I can be no help on the mex question. All mine were either natural or surgical...

Good luck!!

I only have one ovary now, so that is why I am wondering if I will ovulate from the remaining one every month.
Katt, what confuses me about the two shots thing is that when I was reading about it, it seemed to be referring to two different doses on two different occasions, whereas I had two shots on one occasion, so I am not sure of the dosage. I would call the doctor, but given my medical history of the last year, I have three different doctors that never seem to share the same opinion (although they do maintain a certain professional courtesy), and the one that I saw for the ectopic was the newest doctor, and I am not sure how much I trust his judgement. Does that make sense? Truthfully, we haven't been trying this month, but we haven't been preventing either. I really don't know what to think. It has been about two and half months since the methotrexate, and I have been taking my 4mg of folic acid. I really don't want to wait until May or June to TTC. Ugh. Thanks for your input. I really do appreciate it!
