I was wondering if anyone was using the ovulating test strips.. My bf is going out of town next week, monday through thursday, and I have a feeling that is exactly when I will be ovulating... GRRRRRRR he has to go out of town with work... I guess my question is when you use those strips.. right now im just getting a very light control line, and a dark test line.. however a couple of days agian, I was only getting one line, the test line.. NOW I am thinking my body will just my luck hit peak while he is out of town... just wondering if anyone is using these strips and for how long they are accurate??? ie. if we have sex on monday morning before he leaves, then the test strip comes up dark on tuesday and he is not back till thursday.... OHHHHH any advice ladies??

This was my first cycle using the OPK test strips also. I thought I was never going to O b/c I would only get the control line, then finally I got a faint 2nd line and the result line continued to get darker for a few days. I don't know what happened after b/c I was away for a few days, but did test the other day and the line is faint again. I O'd around the 12th, that is when the line was the darkest. I believe that the 2nd line has to be either as dark or darker for the control line to be a +OPK. I used http://www.peeonastick.com/opkodyssey.html as a reference.

This will be my first time taking OKP test, so I'm in the same boat. I just plan to test until I get a positive. :-)

Okay, this is what I did- 2 cycles ago I used just the internet (cheapie) test strips just to see when I would O after my D&C. I picked up the surge pretty quickly and it was very clear when it happened (the lines kept getting darker and darker until they started fading away again).

This last cycle I used the cheapies and when I sarted seeing the test lines get a little darker (but still not +) I ALSO used an OPK I got from target. I sed the same urine sample each time. To my surprise the internet cheapies actually gave me a + about 6-8 hours BEFORE the other OPK. I know it's not great to have a too sensitive OPK, but in my case it was nice because I had more time to plan my activities to be sure DH and I would have a little more quiet time together (the kids went to Nana's house haha). I will probably start testing with the OPK's again on CD 10 and this time I will only use the cheapies, I have had great luck with them and don't see any reason to spend more $$$ than I already am on OPK's and tests.

To answer your question- you probably can't control when he is going to be out of town so BDing as much as possible before he leaves won't hurt ( and I am SURE he won't complain). His swimmers can live for several days, so you still have a chance. The only time I believe there is NO CHANCE, is when there is NO BDing!!! I am sure there are plenty of unplanned pregnancies out there to attest to that!!! Good luck!!!

This was my 1st cycle trying the CBE fertility monitor. It's like using the strips and putting them into a machine to tell you if you are ovulating, rather than guessing on the darkness of the lines (I think). I liked using it and it was close to what MMC said too. I will let you know the outcome in another week LOL.

I use the IC's starting around CD11. Once they start to show a 2nd line, I'll also use the digital OPKs. This month, I'll be using a fertility monitor.
