Question about D&C

I had a D&C done on Thursday and since yesterday have been have some weird cramps on my left side. Also, today I've noticed some sharp (not super painful though) pains that feel kind of deep in my uterus. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? I was told to expect cramps for a few days, but this feels different. Just wonder if maybe this is due to everything shrinking back into place?

I can't remember, but I know I had cramps. If they aren't stopped in the next 2 days, I would call your Dr. I dodn't recall having them past 3-4 days. Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Tara,

First, I'm so sorry for your loss

Second, welcome to the board.

I don't remember having any cramping after my D&C on Feb 7, but I had the sharp pains in my uterus, as well. Then a few days after the D&C, I stopped spotting for two days and during that time, I started noticing a funny smelling yellow discharge. The pain took several days to go away and the discharge stuck around even after the spotting started again, so I went to the doctor to make sure I didn't have an infection. I didn't.

Maybe give it a couple days, try to rest as much as possible and drink lots of water. After that, if you're still concerned, call your doctor. Good luck! *HUGS*

Sorry for your loss

I had my D/E on the 6th, I didnt have cramping.. as much as sorta pains. They were not sharp though. Kinda that feeling after you go to the OB for your pap.. I would kinda explain them as that post scraping feeling (TMI sorry). But I only had that feeling for the first 2-3 days. I am sure your Dr would not mind a call if you are concerned. It was my first D/E and I called him the next day because I had no bleeding. And I wanted to make sure I was "retaining"any thing. I would call, than this way you will know for sure if this is something you should be concerned about. KUP!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I also havent' really had any bleeding, which they said was good when they called me the day after the procedure. I had a little cramping the day after, just like period cramps. And now these little twinges every now and then. My Dr wanted to see me in a couple weeks so maybe i'll ask about it when I call to book my appointment tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that other people had the pains too. I noticed today that my stomach is starting to look more like it did before I got pregnant so maybe that's why.

I would definitely ask when you book the appointment tomorrow, it doesn't hurt to ask! I feel really lucky to not have had much cramping or bleeding after my D&C, but I know others had different experiences.
