I'm sure this had been asked a million times already but I can't find a post that would answer my question. Is your 1st AF after MC supposed to be heavy or light or is it different for everyone? I had AF for only 2 days and it was very light which is not normal for me. I had a natural miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks.

*Update*
So I decided to call my doctor just to make sure that this was normal and she said it was. She said that any bleeding would be considered the start of a new cycle, unless it was a very small amount of spotting. So hopefully this is a new cycle. When should I start OPK's??? I am CD6 today.

I can't help you there b/c I never got mine after my m/c .

I would think a little heavy, maybe a litle longer, but I really don't know and it really depends on your body.

I think it's really different for everyone. Mine was normal after, but I only go for 3-4 days tops. The one thing I did have was harder cramping- but it could have been related to the cyst.

I think after your Mc your body has pretty much cleaned itself out, so it seems that AF should be more on the normal side. Mine were very short (only 2days) and I just went to the Dr about it- he told me that was normal and not to worry for a few more months. If after two or three months they are not back to normal I will go have hormone testing done.

I am curious about this too, and from my understanding there is no such thing as normal period after a miscarriage. However, heavy bleeding (like a 1 pad every 1-2 hours) for 10 days straight or just light spotting for days on end would not be normal. and could mean the miscarriage is incomplete. I also read that in order to consider the bleeding a period you have to have had 20 days of no bleeding prior to the period. I hope this helps.

I had a natural m/c at 10wks. AF arrived 23 days later and was heavier than before, but only lasted about 3 days. My first few AF's were heavier than what I'm used to. But, the biggest thing that I noticed is that I had more severe cramping with AF for about 8 months after. My whole body would ache.

I think its different for everyone..for me the 1st AF was very heavy and so were the 2 after that but you may be different..your body may have cleaned itself since you had a natural m/c

I'm glad the doctor said everything was normal...Onto your new cycle! If you know an approximate cycle day that you normally ovulate, then you should start the opks 3-4 days before that date. I didn't know what my body would do after my m/c so, I bought the Answer brand opks that came with 20 strips. i started using them on day 8 and then, when it would get close to being positive i switched to a more expensive brand (First Response midstream opks) I am NOT an expert at opks or temping, but, it gave me the information about my cycle that I needed.

I hope this helps. G/L ... I hope you get that BFP!!! KUP

that's great news hun. now you can get back into ttc!!! i can't wait for that to happen for me. i'm sorry for your loss and i wish you great success with this new cycle!!!! i would start opks right away, cause you never know how your cycles will be now. they could be the same but they could be totally different. you don't want to miss the surge.
